Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital is seeking a Grants Officer who thrives in a mission-driven, collaborative environment. In this role, you’ll help fund life-changing experiences for Girl Scouts across Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, key role in securing institutional funds from foundation, corporate, and government sources to support general operations, program growth, and capital needs. You’ll also assist in planning and executing engagement opportunities for institutional donors and ensure grant systems, reporting, and documentation are accurate, organized, and audit-ready.

What You’ll Do

Transform impact into compelling proposals: Write letters of inquiry, full grant proposals, narratives, budgets, and reports for grants of up to $100,000 annually, and assist with larger funding requests. Clearly show the difference Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital makes in the community through compelling, well-supported proposals and reports.
Manage full-cycle grant administration: Track deadlines, manage submissions, and ensure reporting is accurate, complete, and on time.
Collaborate across the organization: Work with program, finance, and communications teams to gather data, stories, photos, and budgets, turning them into polished materials that funders rely on.
Build and maintain relationships with funders: Research prospects, support donor meetings and site visits, and create stewardship touchpoints that connect funders’ priorities to the Council’s mission.
Help shape strategic giving goals: Collaborate with the Director of Philanthropy to develop annual grant strategies and identify opportunities aligned with Council priorities and funding goals.
Keep the grants engine running smoothly: Manage the grants calendar, oversee contracts and agreements, maintain electronic funder files, and coordinate financial reporting with Finance.
Engage institutional donors: Plan and execute events and programs that strengthen relationships with institutional donors and create meaningful opportunities for engagement.
Contribute to broader Development efforts: Assist with fundraising events, draft content for newsletters or reports, source impact stories, and proofread materials to ensure consistency and quality.

What We’re Looking For

3–4 years of experience in institutional giving and/or corporate philanthropy
Proven success writing five-figure grant proposals
Comfortable using CRMs and tracking grant revenue
Stellar writing, editing, and storytelling skills
Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Confident in representing Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital with external partners
Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for meetings, programs, and events
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (or equivalent business software suite)

Salary Range: $70,000-$80,000.00/Year

Location & Travel

The position is based in the Washington, DC, office. Requires travel within the Council’s jurisdiction, including Washington, DC, and parts of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. Must have reliable access to car transportation; mileage reimbursement provided for travel outside the office.
