Job Description

All interns start as a team from their first day, and bond as a unified group. During the first week of the internship program, the intern class will go through a comprehensive training and professional education program. This program is designed to ensure that the intern has all the tools necessary to perform their day-to-day duties, as well as the ability to escalate quickly in their career. Everyone will receive a “buddy” whose main purpose is to answer any questions and guarantee the intern adapts to their new responsibilities and environment as quickly and seamlessly as possible. Interns will be scheduled on a variety of industries and clients while working in small groups with other Associates, Semi Seniors, Seniors, Supervisors and Managers. During this time, the intern will focus on developing skills, building their technical knowledge, understanding, and executing diligent client service, and getting oriented to the Firm’s practices, policies, and culture. Work is performed under close supervision.

Qualifications

  • Junior or Senior students, graduating within the next 12 – 18 months with a bachelor’s or master's degree in accounting.
  • Master's degree or plan to complete 150 credit hours to become CPA licensed.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, initiative and leadership skills.
  • We do not sponsor or transfer work visas.

Our Summer Internship Program

  • 6-week program (June-August)
  • All interns receive Associate-level training and opportunities to work on client engagements. 
  • Interns will participate in a series of team building events alongside other interns and Grassi professionals.
    • Grassi Jeopardy, staff and networking lunches, CPA Review presentation, team building events & much more.
  • Interns will network with Grassi team members to build relationships and experience the firm’s people and culture.
  • All interns are invited to attend our annual Firm Day event .
  • Interns are invited to participate in our charitable days of giving known as Grassi Gives Back.
  • Networking & interview project—provides a well-rounded experience for our interns to conclude their experience.
  • Service Line Presentations from the Audit, Tax, & Accounting Services professionals highlighting the service line offerings and what a career at Grassi could mean for you.
  • Partner & Principal leadership panel to answer questions on the firm, industry, company culture, and insight into an entry level role in public accounting.

Day-to-day tasks include but aren’t limited to:

  • Plan and execute Tax engagements .
  • Assist in preparing corporate, individual and partnership workpapers .
  • Focus on developing skills, building technical knowledge .
  • Deliver top-notch client service .
  • Align well with the firm’s practice, policies, and culture.
  • Prepare client deliverables that are clear, concise, thorough, and of professional quality for portions of partnership, individual and corporate tax returns.
  • Work effectively in team environment by building and maintaining rapport with fellow employees.
  • Proactively demonstrate a willingness to learn and attain greater knowledge on a continual basis and look to build technical skill base.

ESOP Owned: The ESOP ensures that equity partners and all Grassi U.S. employees have the exclusive opportunity to own the firm’s stock, making them integral to the company’s future. Unlike many other ESOPs, Grassi’s is privately funded, with no outside investors or private equity firms involved in the plan.

CPA Incentive: Financial assistance toward the achievement of the CPA certification which includes the cost of the CPA study materials, CPA exam registration and sitting fees for all 4 parts (up to 2 x per part), plus the CPA application and licensing fees.  Paid study time during work hours, additional paid time off to take your scheduled exam and a bonus paid upon passing the CPA exam.

Learning and Development: We offer Continuing Professional Education (CPE) opportunities, including both technical and soft skills training. These opportunities are available through internal courses and external programs led by well-known industry instructors, all at no cost to our employees.

Compensation for this role is determined based on a combination of factors, including but not limited to your relevant experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. We strive to offer competitive, equitable pay, that reflects the value each team member brings to the organization. In addition to base salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes performance-based incentives, wellness and retirement programs, and opportunities for continuous professional development.

Salary ranges are provided to offer transparency and may vary depending on final candidate qualifications and local market conditions. Please find compensation information below for candidates residing in the following market(s):

New York rate is $35/hr.
