GovFirst is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Sr. Electronics Technician to support electronic infrastructure in the Hampton, VA.

The successful candidate is responsible for:
  • Install, repair, maintain, program, and modify devices and equipment associated with traffic control systems.
  • Work with traffic signal controllers, fiber optic systems, wireless communications, twisted pair systems, and IP over Ethernet communication technologies and networks.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot transportation-related communication, video, and network equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on dynamic/changeable message signs, closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras, pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) devices, encoders, decoders, Ethernet switches, PLCs, and other related equipment.
  • Apply principles of electronic theory to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
  • Assist Traffic System Technicians and Traffic Signal Technicians as required.
  • Read and interpret plans, schematics, technical drawings, and system displays.
  • Troubleshoot and locate defective devices and perform repairs.
  • Use electronic test equipment, fiber optic testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Operate personal computers and related software applications.
  • Climb communication towers to repair cameras and communication equipment when required.
  • Operate a variety of vehicles and equipment, including platform and bucket trucks.
  • Respond to emergency call-backs during scheduled off-hours as needed.

Requirements

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Three to five years of experience in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electronic and communication systems required.
  • Strong understanding of electronic theory.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical plans, schematics, and displays.
  • Experience using electronic testing equipment and fiber optic testing equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Required Education & Credentials:
  • High School Diploma or GED required. (Degree in engineering may be preferred)
Required Work Authorization:
  • U.S. Citizenship
Required Licensing & Background Check:
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • DMV records check required.
  • Pre-employment drug screening required.
  • Fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check required
