Goodwill Southwest Florida is seeking a Retail Store Manager to oversee all aspects of retail store operations, including financial performance, staff development, merchandising, customer service, mission integration, and compliance with company policies and procedures. This leadership role is responsible for achieving revenue, expense, and profit goals while creating a safe, productive, and customer-focused environment. The Store Manager provides direction, coaching, and support to employees to ensure operational excellence and achievement of organizational objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Safety

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized store environment through adherence to Kaizen principles, PPE requirements, safety procedures, facility inspections, equipment maintenance standards, incident reporting, and monthly safety meetings.
  • Ensure a designated Safety Coordinator fulfills all required safety responsibilities and training requirements.
  • Ensure all required store equipment is maintained in safe operating condition and support compliance with all safety standards and requirements.

Financial Results

  • Achieve store sales, expense, profit, customer transaction, and Ecommerce revenue goals while managing the store within budget and company guidelines.
  • Increase customer count, average sales per customer, and sales per square foot in accordance with annual store objectives.
  • Comply with all recycling and salvage procedures to maximize donation value and reduce disposal expenses.

Customer & Mission Services

  • Ensure staff establish and maintain positive relationships with customers and donors and resolve guest concerns in a timely and satisfactory manner.
  • Ensure employees are knowledgeable about Goodwill programs and actively promote the organization's mission to customers, donors, and the community.

Production & Merchandising

  • Maintain attractive merchandise displays, proper signage, inventory rotation, and compliance with all pricing, merchandising, and Good, Better, Best guidelines.
  • Order RAW product as needed to support production goals and budget objectives.
  • Ensure all mission-related signage is properly displayed throughout the store.

Administrative

  • Develop and manage annual sales, expense, and profit budgets while controlling expenses and ensuring compliance with loss prevention policies.
  • Prepare and submit accurate reports and complete required documentation, including DSRs, bank deposits, Kaizen inspections, facility checklists, meeting records, and other organizational reporting requirements.

Store Maintenance

  • Oversee the physical operation of the store and premises.
  • Submit maintenance requests according to company policy and maintain cleanliness of the sales floor, backroom, and exterior areas.

Staffing & Leadership

  • Recruit, train, develop, supervise, schedule, and evaluate employees to ensure achievement of production, merchandising, customer service, quality control, and financial goals.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews, including 90-day and annual evaluations, and develop Individual Development Plans for management staff.
  • Conduct store meetings, one-on-one coaching sessions, and weekly training programs to improve employee knowledge, motivation, communication, and performance.
  • Establish performance standards and ensure compliance with all company, store, and employee policies and procedures.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required to support store operations.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; two-year or four-year college degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of retail sales experience required.
  • Minimum of two years of management or supervisory experience, or equivalent experience, required.
  • Leadership skills demonstrating professional business ethics, assertiveness, and self-motivation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel with intermediate computer skills.
  • Knowledge of cash registers, adding machines, credit card machines, telephones, point-of-sale systems, and cash handling procedures.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees in production, merchandising, cashiering, and customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and perform business-related mathematical calculations, including advanced math.
  • Ability to work effectively under stressful conditions while demonstrating good judgment, patience, and understanding.
  • Ability to proactively learn about services and operations.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and bend, stoop, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, and move items weighing at least 40 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
