Job Title: Donation Door Lead

Goodwill Southwest Florida is seeking a Donation Door Lead to oversee the daily operations of the donation door area while supporting donation intake, sorting, and processing through the Kaizen system. This lead position assists Donation Door Attendants, ensures compliance with Kaizen guidelines and processing standards, operates material handling equipment, and helps maintain a clean, safe, and organized donation area while providing excellent customer service to donors and customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the donation door area and assist Donation Door Attendants with receiving, recording, sorting, and processing donations according to the Kaizen system and all RAW/Salvage sorting and labeling guidelines.
- Operate a forklift, pallet jack, and other equipment to load and unload trucks, organize materials, stack and unstack materials safely, and complete required pre- and post-operation inspections.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and debris-free donation area inside and outside the facility by utilizing Kaizen 5-minute drills and removing unsafe pallets and Gaylords from service.
- Properly sort and place pulls, salvage, and recyclable commodities into designated containers, hoppers, Gaylords, totes, or other assigned locations to support aftermarket operations and minimize disposal expenses.
- Greet donors and customers with a friendly demeanor, assist with unloading donations from vehicles, record donated items, and provide donation receipts.
- Exercise sound judgment when determining whether donations can be accepted and communicate donation refusals with tact and professionalism.
- Thank donors for their contributions and maintain courteous interactions with all donors and customers.
- Follow all company policies and complete all required training programs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Forklift certification preferred.
- Previous retail and/or stock handling experience preferred.
- Ability to operate a forklift, pallet jack, and other equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and independently stoop, bend, kneel, push, and pull.
- Ability to recognize colors.
- Ability to frequently lift at least 40 pounds and occasionally team-lift up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, patience, and understanding.
- Knowledge of basic math skills.
- Ability to occasionally work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
