Environmental and Social Coordinator
About this role
- Coordinate the environmental and social activities during the development of the project.
- During due diligence, assess gaps against company E&S requirements / policies and identify opportunities for value addition.
- Manage specialist consultants, including for complex E&S due diligence, studies and /or monitoring.
- Support in negotiations with portfolio companies to ensure that E&S rights are embedded in legal agreements, including E&S action plans (where appropriate).
- Support on preparation of project E&S management systems, policies and procedures, including the implementation of E&S action plans.
- Conduct site visits, monitoring the implementation of E&S action plan (if any) by the project companies, reviewing annual reports, and recording E&S ongoing performance.
- Resolving E&S issues in case of non-compliance, and where needed, preparing a timebound corrective action plan with specific follow-up procedures.
- Coordinate the day-to-day E&S tasks performed by project company E&S team.
- Regularly monitor compliance with the company E&S requirements and policies, including the implementation of agreed action plans and/or by attendance of E&S weekly and monthly meetings (as required)
- Coordinate communication activities and flow of information between international and local E&S consultants.
- Participate in meetings with project and corporate teams, being able to provide technical E&S information and follow-up with pending activities of the projects.
- Contribute to the delivery of E&S training, both for internal company teams and for project company teams.
- Participate in meetings with international financing institutions, being able to provide support regarding E&S subjects of the projects.
- Monitor the preparation and implementation of the project documentation, including but not limited policies, management plans, procedures, etc.
- Supervise the environmental, social, health and occupational safety management activities implemented by those involved in the project’s development.
- Support the project team in the review and implementation of environmental and social action plans.
- Prepare periodical (monthly, quarterly, and annual) reports documenting the activities carried out for the environmental and social monitoring and follow-up of the project.
- Assist with the project, new hires on E&S team including induction, training, documentation, and communication.
- Support the corporate team on keeping updated the ISO Certifications and follow up with the company sustainability activities.
- Work on ad hoc projects. For instance, external communications on E&S, such as an annual E&S report and case studies highlighting E&S value addition
