The Assistant Coach will help promote a positive, disciplined, and respectful team environment while supporting the mission and values of Girard College.
The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of golf fundamentals, rules, etiquette, and player development.

Responsibilities
The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the Varsity Golf Program across both fall and spring seasons, including instruction, supervision, and player development.
All coaches are expected to support the program in accordance with Girard College policies and the rules and regulations of the Penn-Jersey Athletic Association (P.J.A.A.), the Metropolitan Philadelphia Athletic Association (M.P.A.A.), and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (P.I.A.A.).
Required Skills
Assist in teaching golf fundamentals, swing mechanics, and course strategy.
Reinforce rules, etiquette, scoring procedures, and sportsmanship.
Support practice organization and player development activities.
Communicate effectively with student-athletes and coaching staff.
Help supervise student-athletes during practices, matches, and travel.
Model professionalism, patience, and positive coaching behavior.
Support academic and personal development of student-athletes.
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Assist with transporting and handling equipment as needed.
Required Duties
Assist the Head Coach in daily practices and match preparation.
Support player instruction and skill development during practices and competitions.
Help supervise student-athletes during all team activities.
Assist with match-day operations, including scoring support and player organization.
Monitor student-athlete behavior, attendance, and academic expectations.
Assist with equipment care, storage, and inventory.
Assist with transportation and supervision of student-athletes during travel.
Maintain appropriate conduct toward students, officials, opponents, and spectators.
Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful team environment.
Attend Athletic Department meetings when required.
Maintain current First Aid and CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain prior to season start).
QualificationsQualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Coaching or competitive golf experience required (high school, collegiate, club, or professional preferred).
Strong knowledge of golf fundamentals, rules, and etiquette.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team coaching environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to student-athlete development and sportsmanship.
Hours
In-Season (Fall & Spring)
The golf program operates during both fall and spring seasons. Coaches are expected to be available for practices, matches, and travel during both seasons. Scheduling varies based on course availability and competition dates.
Off-Season
Coaches may assist with approved off-season training and skill development opportunities as directed by the Head Coach and approved by the Athletic Director.

Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
