About this role
We are looking for a Partner, Technology & IP Transactions with 12+ years of experience to build and lead the practice at an AI-native law firm that's redefining how legal services are delivered. You'll own the work, the team, the quality bar, and the client relationships — sitting first chair on the most complex IP and technology deals while scaling a team of 10+ attorneys at a YC-backed firm growing fast.
What will you be doing?
Sit first chair on strategic partnerships, licensing, joint development, data/AI deals, and technology terms inside M&A — on deal timelines, not memo timelines
Define and own IP diligence methodology across financings and M&A (chain of title, open source exposure, inbound/outbound license scope, change-of-control triggers)
Build, lead, and grow a team of 10+ attorneys — recruiting, staffing, mentoring, and holding an elite work-product bar at startup speed
Own senior client relationships with GCs, founders, boards, and deal teams as a trusted advisor
Partner with engineering to translate practice-level insight into tooling and automation that scales the practice
Key Requirements
J.D. with active bar membership and 12+ years in sophisticated technology and IP transactions
Deep IP diligence experience on both sides of strategic transactions — venture financings, buy-side/sell-side M&A, carve-outs, and spin-outs
Command of the full tech transactions toolkit: licensing, SaaS/platform agreements, data and AI terms, open source compliance, and trade secret protection
Demonstrated experience managing and developing a team of attorneys (not just supervising deal staffing)
Both law firm and in-house experience strongly preferred — you've held a high firm-quality bar and understand what it's like when legal becomes the bottleneck
What happens next
Skip the application pile. I get you in front of the people who decide.

Culture & values
Remote-friendly work environment.
There are meaningful ownership opportunities for the people doing the work.
There is no billable hours model.
Attorneys are empowered to focus on judgment, negotiation, and advising clients rather than routine tasks.
The firm operates like a startup with modern tooling and remote-friendly work.
Know someone who'd be great for this?
