The primary objective is to provide reference material development and measurement services and deliverables through performance of support services.
Duties and Responsibilities
Collect, analyze and interpret data for experimental results; prepare tables and figures.
Analyze and interpret scientific data.
Write manuscript for publications, in collaboration with other team members and outside collaborators.
Write and review technical protocols and reports documenting analytical development studies pertaining to assigned work.
Prepare manuscripts and figures for publication.
Analyze the experiment results and present findings in project meetings, laboratory and outside meetings.
Prepare posters and oral presentations for delivery at scientific meetings.
Work with staff on assay design and modification with the input from published scientific literature.
Work with staff on method development and validation.
Work with staff in the design, implementation, interpretation, and reporting of bioanalytical method development and sample analysis.
Participate in the ongoing activities of the Analytical Methods and Reference Materials (AMRM) Program to develop certified reference materials. 1
Design, perform macroscopic/microscopic analysis, and processing of vouchered plant specimens for use in producing botanical “authenticity suite” reference materials.
Identification, collection, vouchering, and analytical characterization of select authenticated botanical species specimens.
Perform extraction/isolation/purification and measurements of key natural product constituents and botanical secondary metabolites in matrix-based materials. 3
Measurements for the analysis and/or certification of matrix-based natural product certified reference materials. 2
Develop and/or validate analytical methods for targeted quantification and/or nontargeted profiling of select botanical species phytochemical diversity. 4
Prepare and provide reports to NIH-ODS of all work products. 5
Document analytical results per NIST protocols and systems.
Contribute to the drafting of formal internal reports to be used by the NIST Material Measurements Laboratory, Statistical Engineering
Division and Office of Reference Materials.
Work products and documents related to participating in the ongoing activities of the Analytical Methods and Reference Materials (AMRM) Program to develop certified reference materials.

QualificationsBasic Qualifications
Ph.D. degree in a science related field;
Three (3) years of specialized experience plus a Master’s degree is equivalent to a Ph.D.
Five (5) years of specialized experience plus a Bachelor’s degree is equivalent to a Ph.D.
Experience with High- Performance Liquid Chromatography
Experience with Size-exclusion chromatography, Ion-exchange chromatography, Thin layer chromatography, and Affinity chromatography
Skilled in MS Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with non-technical and technical staff
Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
