About this role

  1. Reports to: Project Manager, Branch Manager, and Client

    Responsibilities:

    1. Demonstrate full competency in all Construction Crew Leader tasks in both maintenance and construction.
    2. Assist Project Managers with planning, execution, and oversight of projects.
    3. Communicate effectively in English (verbal, written, and reading comprehension).
    4. Use smartphones and computers for reporting, documentation, and communication.
    5. Conduct follow-ups and inspections across multiple crews and job sites.
    6. Identify 100% of common landscape plants and annual color.
    7. Lead safety meetings and training sessions for crews.
    8. Train new hires and Crew Leaders in construction standards and procedures.
    9. Evaluate crew production and assist with hours budgeting.
    10. Acquire materials and ensure proper usage and documentation.
    11. Perform irrigation system walkthroughs and manage water usage.
    12. Maintain client contact and ensure satisfaction with project progress.
    13. Troubleshoot pest issues and recommend treatment solutions.
    14. Complete and submit work order status reports.
    15. Conduct vehicle inspections and submit vehicle requests as needed.
    16. Submit material use reports and purchase orders.
    17. Maintain monthly tool inventory and ensure accountability.
    18. Complete additional paperwork including bids, work orders, and performance evaluations.
    19. Review and sign timecards for accurate time reporting.
    20. Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role.

    Screening Requirement for Drivers:

    1. Drivers operating an F150 vehicle must have a valid California Driver License and be authorized to drive by the company’s insurance.
    2. Drivers operating a F350 vehicle or larger must have a valid California Driver License, be authorized to drive by the company’s insurance, and complete a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • 4+ years of experience in landscape construction and crew leadership
    • Strong leadership and team management skills
    • Advanced knowledge of irrigation systems, plant identification, and construction practices
    • Proficiency in smartphone and computer-based reporting tools
    • Ability to train and mentor team members and Crew Leaders
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills
    • Professional demeanor and appearance
    • Safety-conscious and able to lead safety initiatives

    Physical Requirements:

    1. Full range of mobility in upper and lower body
    2. Able to reach overhead objects
    3. Able to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment
    4. Able to lift 25 pounds frequently throughout the workday
    5. Able to work in various positions including stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, and squatting
    6. Reliable transportation to job site/office
    7. Report to work at designated time and location
    8. Wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes (composite or steel-toe boots), safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and face coverings
