The Head of Protective Security will provide strategic leadership to shape and deliver the security strategy across the organization, ensuring the protection of people, infrastructure, and operations. They will lead a team of security professionals to manage risks, implement governance frameworks, and foster a culture of security awareness.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional security leader with extensive experience in developing and delivering security strategies within large, complex organizations. They must possess strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to translate complex risks into practical, effective actions.

This is a highly influential leadership role with responsibility for shaping and leading the security strategy for one of the UK's most significant public organisations.
You will provide strategic leadership for organisational security across TfL, ensuring the effective protection of our customers, employees, infrastructure, technology, information and operations. Your remit will span a broad range of security disciplines, reducing organisational vulnerability and strengthening resilience against physical, operational, technological and emerging threats.
Working across the organisation and with senior stakeholders, you will champion security as a business wide priority, ensuring that security considerations are embedded into decision making, risk management and day to day operations. You will bring together diverse functions and teams, securing engagement and commitment to deliver a collective approach to protecting the organisation.
Leading a team of security professionals, you will oversee strategic security programmes, governance frameworks, risk assessment processes, intelligence and insight activities, ensuring TfL remains prepared to respond effectively to an increasingly complex threat landscape.
The challenges are significant and tangible. Every day, our people may encounter security risks ranging from public order incidents and anti social behaviour to fraud, operational disruption and threats to critical infrastructure and safety. Your leadership will help ensure TfL remains resilient, capable and prepared to protect those who depend on our services.

You are an exceptional security leader with a broad and sophisticated understanding of organisational security and threats and the ability to translate complex risks into clear, practical and effective action.
You will bring experience of developing and delivering security strategies within large, complex organisations, with responsibility for protecting people, assets, technology, information and operations. You understand that effective security is achieved not only through robust frameworks and controls, but through building a culture where people recognise their responsibilities and actively contribute to keeping their organisation safe.
A highly credible and influential leader, you will have the ability to engage and inspire stakeholders at every level, securing support for your vision and bringing diverse teams together behind common objectives. You are equally comfortable operating strategically at executive level and ensuring that security remains real, relevant and meaningful for frontline colleagues.
You will have a proven track record of leading high-performing teams, providing expert guidance, driving effective governance and using insight to inform decision-making. Most importantly, you will be passionate about protecting people and organisations, fostering a culture of accountability, resilience and continuous improvement.
This role requires an individual who can think broadly, lead confidently and deliver lasting impact across a complex and high-profile environment where security matters every day.

Hybrid Working
