About the role
Would you like to contribute to impressive vessels, innovative offshore renewable energy projects, and technologies that often do not yet exist? Then this is your opportunity.
At Jan De Nul, you do more than simply design electrical schematics. You contribute to the development of one of the most advanced maritime fleets in the world. From dredgers and cable-laying vessels to offshore installation vessels that support the energy transition, every project is unique and pushes the boundaries of technology.
Within our Marine Design & Engineering Department, you will have the opportunity to work as an Electrical Designer and play an active role in developing innovative solutions to complex technical challenges. This is not standard engineering work, but tailor-made solutions at a world-class level. You will be based at our office in Aalst, joining a multicultural design team with colleagues from no fewer than 17 different nationalities. This international environment creates a unique blend of expertise, perspectives, and collaboration.
In addition, you will contribute to groundbreaking projects, such as the design of a hybrid hopper dredger that is helping shape the future of sustainable maritime transport. In doing so, you will not only work on innovative technologies but also contribute to solutions that have a tangible impact on the world of tomorrow.
What you’ll do
As an Electrical Designer, you are involved from the design phase through to the realization of our vessels and their equipment. Together with engineers, designers, and technical specialists, you ensure that innovative ideas are translated into practical electrical designs.
Your main tasks and responsibilities include:
- Developing electrical schematics in EPLAN.
- Integrating new components and technologies into our designs.
- Managing and optimizing electrical designs for vessels and offshore projects.
- Actively contributing ideas for technical improvements and innovative solutions.
- Creating detailed plans for production and implementation.
Why is this position unique?
- You will work on iconic vessels that are deployed worldwide.
- You will have access to the latest electrical technologies and automation systems.
- You will contribute to offshore energy projects and the energy transition.
- Every project is different; standard solutions rarely exist.
- If a solution does not yet exist, we develop it ourselves.
What do you need?
- A passion for electrical drafting/design and knowledge of EPLAN and/or AutoCAD.
- An A2 technical diploma or a bachelor's degree with a specialization in electricity/electrical engineering.
- Experience in electrical design, or practical experience as an electrician.
- A precise, solution-oriented mindset.
