The Biologics Manufacturing Center (BMC) Inc. is a new biomanufacturing facility created in response to the pandemic. A not-for-profit organization, the BMC aims to better meet the biopharmaceutical needs of Canadians. The BMC helps support projects of public interest, actively contributes to the overall growth and resilience of the Canadian life sciences industry and fosters industry development and innovation through Canadian production. Backed by a committed and innovative team of employees, the BMC fosters a culture of agility and transparency, with a collaborative, result-oriented approach.

We are looking for Manufacturing Technologist - Media Preparation, Washing and Sterilization who will support the development, implementation and execution of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) procedures for the manufacturing of vaccines and other biologics for human use.

The Manufacturing Technologist - Media Preparation, Washing and Sterilization will be responsible for:

Ensuring the preparation of media and buffers by performing chemical weighing, mixing, pH and conductivity measurements, as well as sterile filtration of solutions and filter integrity testing;
Preparing equipment and parts and performing basic equipment maintenance;
Monitoring and ensuring the proper execution of autoclave cycles for sterilization and decontamination;
Performing batch record documentation and cleaning of work areas;
Maintaining up-to-date documentation, including technical records, files and inventories;
Performing calibration of equipment and instruments, verifying their performance and reliability, and carrying out troubleshooting as needed.

You have at least two (2) years of experience in a role supporting manufacturing activities in a GMP environment;
You have experience in manufacturing within a relevant industry: pharmaceutical, biotechnology, cosmetics, animal health, etc.
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered;
The regular schedule is daytime, Monday to Friday; however, based on manufacturing cycles, overtime may be required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
You must be able to handle and lift up to 10 kilograms

The BMC, a key player in Canadian biotech production

The BMC is a new facility in the heart of Montreal, completed in June 2021. It supports the growth of the country's biologics production capacity, ensuring that vaccines and other related products can be manufactured safely, right here at home. Thanks to its state-of-the-art facilities and the knowledge of its team, the BMC can produce biopharmaceutical products such as viral vector, protein subunit and virus-like particle vaccines, as well as other biological products. It is a key player in Canada's ability to respond rapidly to future national and global health emergencies.
