About the role

This position reports to the Survey Superintendent and part of the technical services team, the primary purpose of this position is providing support in all survey activities, including surface and underground across the organization.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• All surveys to be completed to the appropriate standards in accordance to survey best practices.
• Perform site surveys and reports as required or requested from the Survey Superintendent or HOD.
• Complete surveys at month-end to enable volumes to be calculated accurately within the expected timeframes.  Ensure that no areas are missed and that the surveys are accurate.
• Consistently demonstrates QAQC and data validation practices for all aspects of survey computations and reports.
• Ensure that all filing & data management procedures are followed, and that all data is archived regularly and any registers are up-dated correctly.
• Manage all Survey Data base information, systems, hardware, and software.
• Practical use of the Deswik, Pix4d, Aura and various other software packages.
• Competent in the use of Leica Total Stations, Trimble GPS, CALs & Bore track Surveys, UAV surface & underground drones etc.
• Undertaking a variety of surveys not limited to engineering, construction, and road surveys.
• Undertaking Surface Static Control Surveys and complete post processing computations.
• Completion of Underground Control Check Surveys and producing the adjust survey results using Move3.
• Collaborating with project staff and seeking advice from the HOD or Surveyor Superintendent as required.
• Deliver project outcomes in accordance with client specifications and expected time frames.
• Commitment to application of work health and safety principals’ policy.
• Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail and time management skills
• Establish a high-performance culture by motivating team members to achieve a high level of performance and by rewarding and recognising high performance.
• Mentor, Coach & Train team members by actively spending time in the field and office to ensure survey best practices are being followed.
• Actively promotes a safe and healthy culture.
• Demonstrates personal responsibility for own health and safety whilst setting clear expectations of relevant legal obligations, safe workplace practices and HSE operating practices to others, holding them accountable for their actions.
• Perform general housekeeping within and around responsible work area.
• Ensure mobile fleet maintenance is conducted by competent technicians in a safe manner and in accordance with established procedures.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have a tertiary qualification in Surveying with MRA Mine Surveyor accreditation, along with experience in either the Mining, Construction, Engineering or Oil and Gas industries. In addition to this you will have some or all the following.

• Minimum of (5) years’ experience in the mining industry preferred.
• Sound knowledge in regulatory requirements (with respect to Land Use and land Rights/ Acquisition) by the Mining Regulatory Board
• Deswik experience and Competent Microsoft software skills.
• Strong knowledge of safe mining practices and mining standards in underground mining with experience in narrow vein modified and Avoca mining methods.
• Strong planning and leadership skills of Mine & junior Mine Surveyors.
• Able to communicate effectively between all stakeholders.
