What you will do: The Senior Quality Assurance and Testing Specialist will support our busy QA/QC department. This role will be responsible for overseeing product - safety - related testing, remediating with vendors as required to assure 100% compliance with all US Federal, State and major account regulations. In addition, the Senior Quality Assurance and Testing Specialist will provide a variety of QA support duties to the Product Management team on all aspects of a product life cycle, and ensure that all incoming products meet shipment compliance with Federal and State regulations. The ideal candidate should have comprehensive knowledge of the consumer product safety regulations and laws, and have prior experience with/in product quality assurance, preferably in the consumer product testing laboratories for toys and/or the sports industry. This role requires a detailed oriented individual who has a proven ability to build internal and external relationships while ensuring product safety standards are met.


The position is located in our headquarters in Stoughton, MA with a hybrid option and will report to the VP, Quality Assurance and Environmental Sustainability.

IN MORE DETAIL, YOU WILL:

  • Maintain and update existing testing protocols, testing forms, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with applicable product safety regulations and customer requirements. Develop new testing protocols as needed. 
  • Serve as the point person for relationships with Franklin third-party testing laboratories. Negotiate testing pricing, coordinate testing programs, and ensure timely execution of compliance testing. 
  • Review and approve protocols developed by other QA staff. Provide guidance and technical support and address questions related to testing requirements, compliance standards, and protocol implementation. 
  • Maintain and update product safety regulations, testing policies, and compliance requirements within the Franklin Vendor Manual. Develop and implement SOPs as needed and communicate regulatory or policy changes to vendors and internal teams. 
  • Manage testing and inspection status for major Direct Import (DI) customer programs. Monitor project progress to ensure compliance requirements are met. 
  • Review and approve artwork, product sign-offs, catalogs, and risk assessments related to product safety, regulatory compliance, and potential liability exposure for certain product categories. 
  • Handle Franklin Sports' Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) eFiling program, ensuring accurate and timely submission of required compliance information and maintenance of supporting records. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Sourcing, Operations, Quality Assurance, vendors, testing laboratories, and customers to support product compliance throughout the product lifecycle. 
  • Other projects as assigned.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, ideally with a focus in Quality Control or related field 
  • 7+ years of experience in QA/QC role in the consumer product industry, ideally in consumer product testing laboratories for toys and/or the sports industry

 

WHAT YOU HAVE DONE/ESSENTIAL TO THE ROLE:

  • Strong knowledge of Consumer Product Safety Regulations and rules, testing principles and applications, such as ASTM, AATCC, CPSIA, FTC, EN, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge to the broad spectrum of affiliates, including Testing Labs, Vendors, Product Management, Operations, etc. 
  • Problem solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with great follow up abilities
  • Able to deal with different personalities and cultural understanding with proven relationship building experience
  • Computer user skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and juggle between daily, weekly, monthly demands
  • Ability to work well under pressure and able to work cross functionally with all levels in the organization and with outside vendors and clients

 

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Interact independently with internal and external parties, has the knowledge to make independent decisions.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position does not supervise employees.

For this role, the pay range is $71,000 – $85,000 annually, which is what we reasonably expect to offer when filling the position. Your actual offer will depend on things like your experience, skills, and what you bring to the team.
