Position Overview

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, Franklin Companies is seeking a Controller to support the accounting and financial reporting function across a portfolio of 22 multifamily communities. This position is responsible for month-end close, financial statement preparation, and reconciliation activities for an assigned group of properties, while assuming progressively greater review and analytical responsibilities in preparation for advancement to a Controller-level role. Proficiency with RealPage is required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations in support of the monthly close process for an assigned property group
  • Prepare property-level financial statements and conduct variance analysis relative to approved budgets
  • Review accounts payable and accounts receivable postings and resolve discrepancies in coordination with property-level staff
  • Support the preparation of annual budgets and periodic reforecasts under the direction of the Controller
  • Assist in the preparation of owner distribution calculations and investor reporting materials
  • Maintain the integrity of financial data within the RealPage platform, including chart of accounts and standard reporting templates
  • Provide guidance and review of work product for property accountants and accounts payable/receivable staff
  • Support internal and external audit requests, lender compliance reporting, and property tax filings as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of three to five years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the multifamily or broader real estate industry
  • Demonstrated proficiency with RealPage
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and standard month-end close procedures
  • Familiarity with HUD Surplus Cash Calculations
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • CPA licensure, or progress toward licensure, is preferred but not required
