Franciscan Healthcare is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our team. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and healing environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The position includes both environmental services and laundry responsibilities, supporting infection prevention and patient comfort.

Hours: Minimum 40 hours/week, weekend and holiday rotation, possibility of picking up an evening shift

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, and walls  
  • Clean, wash, disinfect, and polish bathroom and fixtures
  • Clean windows, mirrors, and blinds
  • Clean floors to include dry, damp, and wet mopping
  • Clean carpets to include, vacuuming and spot removal in assigned areas
  • Discard infections/non-infections waste into proper containers
  • Collect soiled linen and distribute clean linen to designated area
  • Sorting, washing, drying, pressing, and folding clothing and other textile items
  • Removing stains from items following appropriate procedures

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPPA
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Full range of body motion with frequent standing and walking as well as bending, stooping and reaching
  • Medium strength with lifting of 50 lbs. occasionally, 25lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly (Lifting over 35 lbs requires assistive devices be used)
  • Full manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination and alertness

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Combination of office and normal hospital environment
  • Frequent exposure to dirty and unsanitary conditions
  • Frequent exposure to cleaning fluids and toxic materials
  • Exposure to infectious waste and disease
  • Exposure to latex through regular use of gloves and contact in the hospital environment
  • Terrazzo floors and fluorescent lighting
