About the Role:
The Maintenance Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of healthcare facilities by supporting the maintenance team in routine and emergency repair tasks. This position involves performing a variety of maintenance duties including inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment and infrastructure to maintain a safe and functional environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The Maintenance Assistant will collaborate closely with other maintenance professionals to address facility needs promptly and efficiently, minimizing downtime and disruptions to healthcare services. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential to prevent hazards and comply with healthcare regulations. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Good physical condition to perform manual labor and lift moderate weights.
- Strong communication skills to understand and follow instructions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a maintenance role within a healthcare or similar environment.
- Certification in basic electrical, plumbing, or HVAC maintenance.
- Familiarity with healthcare facility regulations and safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
- First aid and CPR certification.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of building systems including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general facility infrastructure.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies to ensure minimal disruption to healthcare operations.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks to identify and resolve potential issues before they escalate.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team and other departments to coordinate repairs and facility upgrades while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
