The Team Lead is responsible for maintaining the parts schedule in a safe and timely manner. The Team Lead is responsible for their assigned area and all personnel and equipment associated in this area. This person effectively guides the workforce, interpreting section policies and procedures and utilizes company computer software and approved drawings to directs the activities and personnel within their area of production responsibility.
The Team Lead is a member of the Manufacturing Operations team and collaborates with the other functional teams (Sales Operations, Engineering, Finance, Materials & HR) on executing company strategies, meeting budgets and the work unit planned processes. They are expected to support, design, develop, and to implement processes and metrics in all areas of manufacturing including, but not limited to, lean, 5S, workplace safety, onboarding, and training. In addition, this person must demonstrate hands-on leadership in unison with the Production Manager and Director of Manufacturing Operations on implementing strong cultural beliefs and values throughout the organization.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides daily direction and leadership to the parts department's team members
Being the lead of all expedited orders
Leading all project based business parts orders
Understands and adheres to FMH Conveyors Company handbook
Understands and adheres to section policies and procedures
Must have the ability to perform activities utilizing all machinery and equipment in the assigned section
Promotes continual improvement within the department and the organization.
Must have the ability to examine items produced to determine if items meet specifications.
Follows documented manufacturing/assembly processes using the operation’s procedures.
Recommends measures to improve section production methods and overall effectiveness of product line.
Coordinates daily/weekly/monthly provided schedule to meet delivery demands.
Monitors the quality, quantity, and efficiency of products produced by team members.
Maintains working collaborative relationships with the team members and is focused on producing excellent products safely and on time
Works with each team member in the section to provide the opportunity for them to be cross-trained and to meet other training opportunities.
Ensures that goals are met and sustained daily/weekly/monthly.
Observes safety and security procedures; Uses equipment and materials properly; Reports potentially unsafe conditions.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma
Understanding of ERP/MRP systems (Epicor)
Displays original thinking and creativity; meets challenges with resourcefulness; generates suggestions for improving work/processes.
Strong leadership skills
Learns quickly when facing new problems; open to change; strives for continuous improvement of self and processes.
Excellent and professional communication (oral and written)
Ability to perform basic math including use of whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Knowledge of production
Experience with lean concepts and tools
Strong analytical, administrative, and organizational skills
MS Office suite with competencies in Excel
Must be Forklift certified
Ability to process and pick orders when needed
Maintain departmental inventory integrity (cycle counts)
Coordinate inventory, LTL and dedicated shipments with other departments
Help maintain DMS board integrity
Communicate shortages to our buyers and planners
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Stand, walk, or be mobile for up to a 10-12-hour shift; ascend, squat, push and pull up to 100 lbs.; bend, twist and reach with hands and arms to feel objects, tools or controls, check and inspect product. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
