About this role
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This individual performs lay creation, revisions and related activities necessary for the efficient production of quality patterns and cut files. Using established procedures, gathers and correlates basic data and applies phases of approved industrial engineering policies and practices. Works with Data Processing, Scheduling, Payroll, Engineering and Manufacturing on manufacturing problems and cost reduction projects. Participates in Flexsteel's continuous improvement process by working with a zero defects attitude, utilizes problem solving skills with inputs and outputs, and verifies that all processes are capable of meeting customers' mutually agreed upon requirements.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
- Create markers & cut files for all necessary layouts
- Set match points on digitized pattern components & generate corresponding match markers / cut files
- Program cut files for the multi-ply cutting system
- Assist with basic pattern design functions including but not limited to: modification of digitized pattern components, markers, cut files, etc. as required for creation of additional marker layouts, ECRs & continuous improvement, etc
- Creation of files & components necessary for all leather cutting demands
- Load necessary cutting & usage information into AS400 system as needed
- Support the product design team & manufacturing team as needed with troubleshooting, continuous improvement opportunities, pattern design & development, pattern & sew specifications, and ensure utilization of best practices
- Lead process documentation and standardization to ensure knowledge transfer
- Support and potentially mentor junior team members in marker making, cutting programming, and system usage
- Effectively communicates cross-functionally to ensure timely project management
- All other duties as assigned.
