This is not a desk job.

You'll spend most of your time in the community building relationships that generate referrals and private-pay clients.

Position Summary

The Community Relations & Business Development Representative is responsible for developing referral partnerships and increasing awareness of FirstLight Home Care throughout Sacramento and Solano Counties.

Success in this role is measured by relationships built, referral sources activated, community visibility, and ultimately private-pay client growth.

Responsibilities

Business Development

• Develop new referral partnerships

• Meet with hospitals

• Skilled nursing facilities

• Assisted living communities

• Independent living communities

• Rehabilitation centers

• Hospice agencies

• Home Health agencies

• Physicians

• Concierge medical practices

• Senior placement agencies

• Estate planning attorneys

• Financial planners

• Senior centers

• Churches

• Community organizations

Community Outreach

Attend:

  • Health fairs
  • Senior expos
  • Farmers markets
  • Chamber events
  • Networking mixers
  • Community resource fairs
  • Educational seminars
Relationship Management

Maintain ongoing communication with referral partners through:

  • Weekly visits
  • Phone calls
  • Email follow-up
  • Lunch-and-learns
  • Caregiver appreciation events
  • Educational presentations
Marketing

  • Deliver marketing materials
  • Maintain referral database/CRM
  • Track leads
  • Track conversions
  • Coordinate community events
  • Identify new marketing opportunities
Reporting

Weekly reports including:

  • Referral visits completed
  • New contacts added
  • Follow-up appointments
  • Referrals received
  • Referrals converted
  • Community events attended
  • Next week's goals

Qualifications

Preferred experience in:

  • Home Health
  • Hospice
  • Healthcare Sales

Excellent communication skills

Professional appearance

Self-motivated

Comfortable speaking in front of groups

Reliable transportation

Valid driver's license

Ability to work independently

CRM experience preferred

Success Metrics (KPIs)

Weekly

  • 20–25 in-person referral visits
  • 10 new referral contacts
  • 10 follow-up meetings
  • 2 community events
  • 5 lunch-and-learns or educational meetings scheduled
Monthly

  • 80–100 referral visits
  • 30+ new referral relationships
  • 15–20 qualified private-pay inquiries
  • 6–10 new private-pay assessments scheduled
  • 3–5 new private-pay clients started
