Reports To: Director of Engineering & Maintenance

General Purpose

Maintains plant manufacturing, packaging, facility maintenance, and laboratory instrumentation in peak operating condition. Performs a variety of routine tasks as assigned by the Department Supervisor, Group Leader, or Manager. The Senior Calibration Technician operates independently to determine and execute all required procedures for the most complex technical assignments.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Calibration & Maintenance

Follow written calibration procedures to detect, report, and eliminate variations in instrument accuracy by comparing instrumentation against measurement standards of known accuracy.
Ensure all assigned instrumentation on the "Equipment Due for Calibration Report" is calibrated before the last day of the due month or accounted for with a signed "Could Not be Found Form".

Identification & Labeling

Attach properly completed calibration stickers indicating calibration date, next due date, and technician initials.
Apply unique identification tags to instrumentation.
Replace faded or illegible identification tags and calibration stickers as needed.

Documentation & Compliance

Complete standard calibration forms accurately, documenting test points, calibration standards used, technician initials, calibration date, next due date, and relevant comments.
Submit all calibration documentation to the Supervisor, Group Leader, or Manager for review at least three working days prior to the end of the month.

Technical Leadership & Authoring

Train and mentor less experienced Calibration Technicians within the department.
Draft and write standard calibration procedures.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

Experience Option A

Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Calibration Technician A.

Experience Option B

Associate degree in Instrumentation Technology or Electronics + seven (7) years of relevant work experience; OR
Electrical/Electronics Certification or equivalent military certification + eight (8) years of relevant work experience.

Specialized Skills

Must demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following areas: electronic design, instrument design, trade license, calibration records databases, or other specialized areas related to calibration shop operations.
