About this role
Position Description
Far West Federal is looking to hire an Acquisition Support Specialist to support the Army Computer Hardware, Enterprise Software and Solutions (CHESS) / Digital Market program. The position is local to the Fort Belvoir, VA area. This is a high-visibility program that reports to senior Army leadership. On a reduced two-person contractor team (Acquisition SME and Acquisition Support Specialist), the Specialist prepares acquisition documentation for award and post-award management; processes customer inquiries, Statements of Non-Availability (SoNA), and software license requests; and supports Product Officers on CHESS / Digital Market hardware, software, and services vehicles. The Specialist works closely with government and contractor staff, is expected to work independently with little oversight, and must keep customer and contract coverage current while completing assigned project work.
Key Responsibilities
- Resolve customer inquiries for Digital Market / CHESS contracts, products, and services; log and track routine issues and escalate complex items to the Acquisition SME or Product Officer.
- Research policies and mandates applicable to specific acquisitions, including Justification and Approval (J&A) rules and FAR / DFARS (AFARS preferred) at the working level.
- Provide acquisition support for software COTS contracts, including license request processing, License Tracker for Software (LTS) support, and enterprise software agreement administration.
- Process and track SoNA requests and assist customers with the RFx capability (RFQ, RFP, RFI, Reverse Auction), IT e-Mart / Digital Marketplace, Army software portals, and DoD ESI / ELA sites.
- Compile and analyze contract-action and inquiry data; deliver weekly action summaries to the program manager and monthly status reports; review vendor reports and submit catalog / website update requests.
- Draft routine acquisition support products (FAQs, business rules, ordering guides, meeting notes) for SME / Government review; support Product Officers on ADMC / Consolidated Buy / ABE, ITES, J/ELAs, and DoD ESIs; complete special projects without dropping customer coverage.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree preferred. Comparable experience may be substituted.
- Experience: 2-4 years of acquisition or acquisition support experience, plus 6–8 years in an administrative, communication, or customer service environment.
- Experience working with Armed Services components and knowledge of government acquisition policy, including J&A rules, policies, and procedures.
- Extensive MS Office skills and the ability to quickly learn Government tools (RFx, LTS, ETMS2, SharePoint, IT e-Mart / Digital Marketplace); able to self-organize, stay on-task, and work in a small team.
- Ability to translate technical requirements into acquisition requirements and milestones; communicate with partners, stakeholders, and leadership; and present to large audiences. Desired: prior CHESS / Digital Market or comparable DoD IT acquisition support, SoNA or ELA/license-tracking experience, and DAWIA or equivalent training.
