Benefits included in the Total Value of Remuneration Package Range (Pension, 13^th Cheque, Medical Aid, Housing Subsidy and Car Allowance) are payable in accordance with the rules/requirements of the respective benefit schemes and any revisions that may occur from time to time which may alter the Total Value of Remuneration Package. In addition, other allowances may be payable (where applicable).

Key Responsibility Areas: 

•Communicates with the Senior Manager (Operations) on Response and Recovery in order to align functions and service delivery objectives against the capacity and capability of the Section. •Measures and evaluates outcomes associated with utilisation, productivity, performance and conduct of personnel within the Branch. 

•Manages the implementation of financial controls/procedures and provides information to support financial planning sequences. 

•Evaluates on an ongoing basis, matters concerning the Council’s emergency/response capabilities. 

• Identifies and analyses vulnerabilities within communities, formulating and conducting relevant programs to strengthen resilience. 

•Maintains the database of halls, other temporary shelters and manages the provision of relief to support the emergency relocation of persons from disaster incidents. 

•Liaises with Council Divisions and external agencies to coordinate response and recovery as well as the design, delivery and analysis of multi-agency training exercises to validate emergency arrangements.

•Maintains a database detailing all pertinent resources required to manage an emergency/disaster. 

•Implements procedures, systems and controls to regulate specific work and associated sequences associated with the functionality. 

•Disseminates information on outcomes, current developments, problems and constraints and/or presents educational material on public safety. 

•Maintaining the activity and recordkeeping systems and/or executing specific actions to facilitate the updating of registers and schedules as well as verifying and approving transactional and/ or procedural documentation/ forms prior to circulation or processing,

Essential Requirements: 

 

•Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in Disaster Risk Management or any other related and equivalent qualification majoring in Disaster Risk Management. 

•Registered as a Practitioner with the Disaster Management Institute of Southern Africa (DMISA). 

•Valid motor vehicle driving license. 

•5 years relevant experience of which 2 years must be at a supervisory level in a Disaster Management environment. 

•Computer literacy. 

 

Preferred Requirements: 

•Post graduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in Disaster Risk Management or any other related and equivalent qualification majoring in Disaster Risk Management. 

•6 years relevant experience of which 3 years must be at a supervisory level in a Disaster Management environment.
