Valor - TRANSPORTATION AND DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL


A Transportation & Direct Support Professional will safely operate a client transportation vehicle over designated routes within an established time schedule; to transport clients to medical, social, education and vocational appointments and on special event trips; to perform daily inspections of the transportation equipment; and to do other related work as required. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work well under pressure and calmly handle high-stress emergency situations, as a client’s health may drastically and unexpectedly change. As direct care, you will be responsible for assisting clients with daily needs (bathing, laundry, dressing). The Direct Support will also assist with daily cleaning around the facility such as (laundry, cleaning of communal areas, keeping front desk clear of debris and clutter, sweeping, and mopping of lobby, vacuuming hallways and carpeted areas, room checks and support of front-line staff.  Maintain a flexible schedule to assist with the daily operations of the facility.  This is a 24/7 program and may require overnight and weekend shifts for the safety and well-being of all clients residing in the facility.   

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with all departments, the management team, regulatory agencies, and community partners. 

  • Embraces cultural diversity amongst ourselves and our community. 

  • Responsible for the human, financial, and material resources and data and information entrusted to us. 

  • Ability to follow directions and adhere to assigned routes and schedules. 

  • Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle. 

  • Transports clients with special needs, physical handicaps, and high acuity mental illness to and from scheduled appointments. 

  • Maintain clean and organized vehicle and report any malfunctions or concerns to supervisor.  

  • Adheres to policies and procedures in maintaining appropriate client behavior. 

  • Maintains the transportation vehicle in a clean and orderly condition and inspects and reports mechanical defects or malfunctions promptly to supervisor. 

  • Completes the daily transportation activity record, including number of students transported, mileage, type of trip, and standby time. 

  • Assisting clients with daily personal tasks, including bathing and dressing. 

  • Completing housekeeping tasks such as laundry, vacuuming and keeping common areas free of clutter and debris. 

  • Helping plan client appointments and or Organizing transportation arrangements to appointments. 

  • Encouraging client engagement in social networks and communities. 

  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures. 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None 

EDUCATION & PREFERED WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Possess a valid Driving License (Minimum of 3 years) 

  • Current Colorado Driver’s License 

  • No license suspension or revocations within the last 5 years  

  • No major motor vehicle violations in the last 3 years.  

  • Have a clean driving record with no more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years.  

  • Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent. 

  • QMAP certified OR expected to take part in QMAP training within 60 days of hire and to successfully pass QMAP certification by 90 days of employment to remain in position.
