Accounts Assistant
Join Our Finance Team
EHS International is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our growing Finance team in Cork. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function, with particular responsibility for working capital management, accounts receivable, and accounts payable activities.

Key Responsibilities:
As Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for:
- Managing customer accounts to ensure payments are received within agreed terms through structured follow-up by phone, email, and written correspondence, while maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Issuing sales invoices and processing purchase ledger transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Preparing and distributing customer statements and aged receivables reports, highlighting overdue accounts and providing clear recommendations to the Finance Manager.
- Investigating and resolving invoice and account queries in collaboration with colleagues across Finance, Sales, and Operations.
- Assisting with month-end activities, including the preparation of journals for accruals, prepayments, and depreciation.
- Performing bank, supplier, and customer account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies as required.
- Supporting month-end reporting and cash flow forecasting through the provision of accurate receivables data and wider accounting support.
- Assisting with general finance administration and contributing to ad hoc projects as the finance function continues to evolve.
About You
We are looking for a proactive and organised finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant, Bookkeeper, or similar finance role.
- Experience in credit control and/or accounts receivable management would be highly advantageous.
- A solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, journal preparation, and account reconciliations.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and reporting.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero or similar platforms.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- A positive, collaborative approach and the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
Qualifications
- Part-qualified or currently studying towards an accounting qualification such as ACCA, ACA, CPA, or IATI is desirable.
