About this role

About Dyania Health

Dyania was born with the mission to find clinically critical and relevant insights buried within electronic medical records and release these insights to inform and drive clinical care and clinical research. Our vision is to make sure every patient gets the right care at the right time based in medical decisions precisely informed by their own data. Each patient’s medical record would take a provider nearly 2 hours to read once, let alone read again and again for all the updates cumulated over time. It would be humanly infeasible to achieve even if there was an army of available human clinicians with time that they could spare. Moreover, if so much of medicine is undiscovered, how is an AI model meant to reason appropriately if humans do not know or agree on the right answer? What does high performing reasoning mean in a world of discord and vagueness?

Synapsis AI is the answer.

At Dyania Health, we built Synapsis AI over years of AI research, clinicians annotating data and real world tests to acutely understand and overcome every challenge at the point of care. The reason why we became obsessed with solving this problem has its roots in the very core of what is an innately human problem.

The Role

We're hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer, who will report to our VP of Forward Engineering. Together, you'll be the technical face of Dyania inside every client we deploy Synapsis AI into, owning the relationship from deployment through ongoing operation. As we scale, that technical interface will run through the Forward Deployed Engineering team. This is a hybrid role: part client-facing technical liaison, part builder, translating what health systems need on the ground into the engineering work -data models, integrations, pipelines, and workflows- that makes Synapsis AI run reliably inside the healthcare system’s firewalls.

As an Individual Contributor in this role, you'll thrive in a fast-changing, innovation-driven environment and partner hand-in-hand with our Clinical Innovations team composed of MDs, PharmDs, and PhDs. They define the clinical components of our solution; you own the technical side.

What you will own

Client technical requirements

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison to the client throughout deployment, owning the technical aspects of the onboarding process end to end in direct partnership with our Clinical Innovations Group and Business Development teams.
  • Prepare deployment timelines and coordinate release schedules alongside our release and reliability engineering teams.
  • Collaborate on cybersecurity reviews and other technical evaluations of Synapsis AI, guiding clients to sign-off.

Client growth and platform feedback-loop

  • Capture technical requirements from clients and drive the development of the engineering features needed to ensure Synapsis AI efficient and reliable processing.
  • Own the data mapping and integration work needed both during deployment and as new use cases emerge at client sites.

Implementation

  • Analyze and validate the various data environments and data sources Synapsis AI needs to integrate to.
  • Lead database mapping efforts, SQL logic definition, and prioritization of sources of truth across complex medical data pipelines.
  • Build and fine tune ETL pipelines that feed Synapsis AI the information needed to process clinical projects
  • Partner closely with our Clinical Innovations team, who shape the clinical instructions Synapsis AI runs on, to implement clinical projects.
  • Support the Clinical Innovations and Business Development teams on reporting needs to ensure Synapsis AI accuracy and reliability in production.

Stand-up and operational activities

  • Build pipelines that automate manual tasks across deployment and the day-to-day operation of Synapsis AI.
  • Monitor system activity and service health in partnership with our engineering team and client-side engineering team, proposing enhancements as issues or opportunities surface.
  • Develop, request, or enhance the workflows that support the day-to-day operation of Synapsis AI at each site.
  • Together with the VP Forward Engineering and in coordination with our Clinical Innovations team, own the technical communication with the client at an operational level while capturing client- and project-specific needs, translating them into clear, actionable requirements for Engineering, Product, or other internal teams at Dyania.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • +5 years of experience as a software engineer using Python or similar coding languages.
  • +2 years of technical experience that includes customer-facing work.
  • Experience working with both SQL (e.g. MSSQL, Postgres) and NoSQL (MongoDB) data stores, including schema design, query-level performance tuning, and data mapping.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker), building and operating services in production, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with event-driven or workflow-based architectures (i.e.: queue/worker systems, pub/sub, durable workflow engines, or similar orchestrations of distributed, retriable jobs).
  • Experience analyzing systems and providing operational enhancements.
  • Experience communicating risks or failures and capacity to adjust quickly and fix where needed.
  • Experience leading technical sessions with customers for requirements gathering, technical presentations, and/or debugging sessions.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven capability to operate in fast-moving, high-expectation, founder-led environments.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid scaling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD degree in AI, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience as a Software Engineer on data-intensive systems in healthcare, bioinformatics, or a similarly regulated domain.
  • Experience automating processes using generative-AI tools.
  • Experience leading or partnering closely within cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience working in a startup-environment, building products from 0 -> 1 and taking systems from conception to launch.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, EMR data structures, clinical logic, and research methodology.

Who is a Dyanian?

  • Leads with empathy for our patients, teammates, partners, and clients
  • Has an insatiable curiosity for learning new concepts and intellectual growth
  • Has self-awareness in knowing what they know and what they don't know
  • Maintains humility in recognizing that perfection does not exist, welcoming growth that comes from being wrong
  • Has a magnetic attraction towards cross-disciplinary teams with diversity of thought, perspective, skill set, working style, knowledge, and interests who have a passion for solving challenging problems
  • Maintains a flexible and adaptive attitude towards solving problems
