About this role
We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with 2-5 years of experience to own mechanical subsystems from concept through working prototype on autonomous robotic systems deployed in real data centre environments. You'll join a tight-knit, in-house hardware team at Droyd, where iteration, fabrication, and execution all happen under one roof. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives at the intersection of CAD and the shop floor — designing, building, breaking, and iterating on real hardware that makes robots stop being demos and start being infrastructure. If you have a strong portfolio of complete systems taken from concept to physical prototype and love moving fast on hard problems, this is your opportunity.
What will you be doing?
Own mechanical subsystem design from first sketch through prototype and iteration, making decisions on materials, tolerances, and manufacturing methods
Design parts and assemblies in CAD, supported by hand calculations and FEA, optimized for rapid prototyping methods including 3D printing and CNC machining
Build prototypes yourself using 3D printers, shop tools, and CNC equipment — turning designs into physical hardware quickly
Integrate mechanical designs with motors, sensors, electronics, and actuators on robotic arms and mobile bases
Collaborate closely with electrical, software, and robotics teams to bring complete autonomous systems together for production deployment
What happens next
Skip the application pile. I get you in front of the people who decide.
Confirm the fit
A few questions to make sure this role is the right shape for you. Two minutes.
I pitch you to the company
I write the intro, send it to the founder, and handle the back-and-forth.
A meeting lands on your calendar
When the company wants to meet, I get the call on your calendar. You just show up.
Culture & values
Sprint-based intensity where the team works hard when projects demand it, but doesn't promote performative work
Founders value ownership, autonomy, and people who understand when to push hard without being told
Tight-knit, in-person team where collaboration happens naturally
Everyone has skin in the game
Small, high-intensity team of engineers and builders
Culture is founder-led and deeply collaborative
Co-founders are hands-on across product and go-to-market
Team members expected to operate with high ownership and autonomy
Some weeks are intense sprints where the team works six or seven days, other times people take time off without question
Environment built for people who want outsized impact
Team is close to the product, close to customers, and close to decisions that shape the company's trajectory
Team spans mechanical engineering, controls, software, and commercial operations all under one roof
Know someone who'd be great for this?
