About the role

The primary focus of the Calibration Technician is to support the FGDS Department with the smooth running of the workshop in calibration, general manufacturing and stock control duties.

The tasks and responsibilities below are typical of the duties the postholder will be expected to perform. It is not necessarily exhaustive and other duties of a similar nature and level may be required from time to time.

  • Communicating effectively with other departments regards enquiries relating stock and delivery status of orders.

  • Controlling stock movements in and out of the workshop using PC with SAP/Qtrak and project work programmes whilst ensure all stock is allocated correctly.

  • Preparing project drawing and label packs for technicians using PC and printers.

  • Carrying out duties and audits in line with 6S principles, Kaizen, etc. in-line with lean six sigma processes.

  • Completing standard order assembly tasks and sub assembles using hand tools

  • Serialisation of projects and works orders on SAP to comply with traceability requirements.

  • Raising purchase requisitions on SAP

  • Completing calibrations on Draeger portable gas detection, alcohol and drug testing devices, and fixed gas detection sensors.

  • Preparing finished goods for shipping – working as a team to assemble wooden shipping crates using hand tools and ensuring all items are returned to warehouse correctly.

Reporting Relationships

Manager - FGDS Workshop Supervisor

Size of team/environment - Working in a team of 6 technicians, you are supported by several functions including project engineering, project management, project documentation, customer management and our resource planning team. Our workshop is on ground level, is well lit, with air conditioning and a fundamental focus on safety and product quality.

Role Requirements

Education/Qualifications

  • NVQ3, ONC/HNC or similar experience.

Related Experience

  • Computer experience is essential ideally with experience on SAP, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams, etc.), and SharePoint.

  • Manual handling experience using pallet truck.

Skills, Special Competencies

  • Knowledge of 6S principles is desirable.

  • Candidates should also be good team players with effective problem-solving skills and be enthusiastic.

  • Proactive approach.

  • Accurate with an eye for detail.

  • A current counterbalance forklift truck license (Desirable)
