TITLE: Student Worker, CBIST Communications
DEPARTMENT: College of Business, Information Studies, and Technology
HOURS/WEEK: Approximately 10 hours per week
HOURLY RATE: $15.00
*Open to both undergraduate and graduate students
 
Job Description
The CBIST Communications Assistant supports the communications and community engagement initiatives of the College of Business, Information Studies, and Technology with:
  • Social media support on behalf of CBIST and its schools, including the Brennan School of Business, School of Information Studies, and School of Innovation and Technology.
    • Creating content (with Director’s input/approval) for FB, Instagram, X, and others
    • Monitoring channels and responding where appropriate
    • Coordinating with other student workers to present a unified look and voice to social media posts
  • Assisting the Director of CBIST Communications in compiling information for newsletters and other external communications.
  • Contributing content to the Butler Center’s blog as needed: butlerspantry.org.
  • Assisting with marketing and other information sharing of CBIST, SOIS, BSB, and SIT events.
  • Participating in event planning and execution, including professional development events and lectures hosted by CBIST schools.
 
Eligibility Requirements
  • Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in Dominican University’s Brennan School of Business, School of Information Studies, or School of Innovation and Technology.
 
Necessary Skills
  • Mastery of web-based research, social media, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and one or more digital graphic design platforms.
  • Detail-oriented organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and move boxes, books, and marketing materials.
  • Effective time management skills and a self-motivated work ethic.
  • Personable demeanor and the ability to maintain positive working relationships with others.
