Position Summary:
The Student Chemical Stockroom Assistant supports the safe, organized, and efficient operation of the chemistry department’s chemical stockroom and related laboratory support areas. Under supervision, the student assists with chemical inventory, storage, labeling, safety documentation, stockroom organization, and preparation of materials for teaching laboratories. This position provides practical experience in laboratory operations, chemical safety, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintaining chemical inventory records; receiving, identifying, labeling, dating, and properly storing chemicals and supplies; organizing storage according to compatibility and safety requirements; and monitoring stock levels, expiration dates, damaged containers, and missing labels.

Required:

1 year of general chemistry

Preferred:

1 year General Chemistry, 1 year Organic Chemistry

Physical Requirements:      

  • Ability to stand for extended periods during laboratory sessions.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including a laboratory coat, safety goggles, and gloves.
