About this role
The Deerfield Shuttle Driver is responsible for providing safe, courteous, and reliable transportation for staff and residents. This position ensures timely transportation to employee parking areas, designated Walmart parking area, and other approved destinations while maintaining the comfort, dignity, and safety of all passengers.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide transportation for staff between designated parking areas or approved work-related locations
- Safely transport residents to and from pick-up locations and drop areas on campus.
- Assist residents with boarding and exiting the shuttle, including operating wheelchair lifts and securing mobility devices when applicable.
- Follow transportation safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate transportation logs, mileage records, and trip schedules.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs or safety concerns promptly.
- Keep the shuttle clean, fueled, and in good operating condition.
- Follow all state and federal traffic laws, facility policies, and HIPAA/confidentiality requirements.
- Respond appropriately in emergency situations and report incidents according to facility policy.
- Provide excellent customer service while treating residents and staff with respect and professionalism.
- Assist with loading and unloading personal belongings, medical equipment, walkers, wheelchairs, and other approved items.
- Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned.
- Any other duties as designated by the Security Manager
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience driving passenger vans, buses, or shuttle vehicles preferred.
- Experience working with elderly or disabled individuals is highly desirable.
- CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and drive for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to push, pull, and secure wheelchairs and other mobility equipment.
- Ability to assist passengers entering and exiting the vehicle.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid driver's license required.
- Acceptable motor vehicle record.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
