About this role

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP MANAGER

Seattle, WA | Full Time | Monday through Friday | In Office and Community Based | $82,000 to $95,000

At Deacon Construction, we build more than projects. We build relationships, opportunities, and lasting partnerships in the communities where we work.

We're looking for a Community Partnership Manager to lead outreach in WA, connecting schools, workforce programs, and community organizations to careers in construction, including leading Deacon's high school internship program each summer. This role also supports our Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprise partnerships on affordable housing and public works projects, with project support as those projects call for it.

This is a good fit for someone who enjoys relationship building and community impact, and who's comfortable moving between big picture outreach and the detail work in between.

What You'll Do:

Community Outreach and Workforce Development
  • Represent Deacon at career fairs, community events, association meetings, and outreach initiatives
  • Build and maintain relationships with high schools, colleges, workforce programs, and cultural organizations
  • Promote careers in construction and alternative pathways into the industry, including pre apprenticeship, workforce development, and reentry programs
  • Support engagement with the Deacon Charitable Foundation and community-based initiatives
  • Lead Deacon's high school internship program each summer, owning it end to end, including building the program curriculum and summer schedule, interviewing and selecting students in partnership with local high schools, managing the full 4-to-6-week internship, and serving as the hands on, day to day leader for interns, including transporting them to project sites and supervising them as minors while on site
  • Support and attend college outreach efforts, including partnering with local minority chapters in construction management and engineering fields, and scheduling and attending events with local college groups and construction management and engineering organizations
  • Recruit and coordinate Deacon employee volunteers to support events, career fairs, and the internship program
  • Maintain a record of interns and college contacts to see how the program grows year over year
  • Build relationships with trade and vocational schools as a construction specific pipeline, separate from general college and workforce program outreach
  • Build relationships with veteran transition programs as another recruiting pipeline into the industry
Community Engagement Initiatives
  • Support and help lead Deacon's community engagement initiatives
  • Manage and track the community engagement budget
  • Support and help co-lead Deacon's Women's Resource Group
MWBE Support
  • Build and strengthen relationships with MWBE subcontractors and partner organizations
  • Work with estimators and project teams to identify and engage MWBE subcontractors for bids and proposals
Local Office Support
  • Support local office recruiting efforts, working with HRD, recruiters, and office leaders to help coordinate, schedule, and support recruiting needs
  • Support HRD with onboarding new hires, including making sure they have what they need for their first day, supplies, and office location, serving as a local resource for new hires, and helping ensure they get through each of their orientations on day one
  • Coordinate local office meetings, events, and facility needs
  • Assist with ordering office supplies and equipment for the local team
  • Serve as the point of contact for day-to-day office coordination, routing any employee relations or personnel questions to HR directly
  • Book and arrange travel for the local office
  • May help the local office with project or office related support as needed
What You Bring
  • Experience in coordination, outreach, engagement, whether through work, school, or volunteer roles
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities across community outreach and hands on work
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • A collaborative mindset and genuine interest in community outreach

Who We Are
At Deacon, we believe that great projects are built by great people, and great people deserve a place where they are genuinely valued. Our mission is to continually seek growth for our company and provide unlimited opportunities for our people, and that shows up in how we invest in the people who work here and the projects we build.

Providing opportunities for our people is one of our core values. Many of our leaders started in entry level roles and built their careers right here at Deacon, and we look for that same potential in the people we bring on, whether that means growing within a role, moving into a new one, or picking up new skills. Our focus is simple: put our people first, build excellent projects, and maintain the long-standing client relationships that have defined our reputation for over 45 years.

We work hard. We take pride in what we build and hold ourselves to a high standard. But we also know that the best teams are ones that enjoy showing up every day, and that means taking time to connect, celebrate, and have fun along the way. Whether it is a summer picnic, a jobsite BBQ, a holiday party, or one of the many events we organize throughout the year, we make it a priority to keep that sense of community alive.

As we continue to grow, we are committed to maintaining the heart of who Deacon is: people who care about their work, their teams, and each other.
