Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will support the Manufacturing Engineering team in the design, development, documentation, and implementation of machining and assembly processes for new and existing products. This role requires hands-on collaboration with production, quality, and design teams to ensure efficient, repeatable, and cost-effective manufacturing methods.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and document machining and mechanical assembly processes for components and final products.
  • Create process documentation including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and tooling lists.
  • Design or assist in the design of jigs, fixtures, and tooling to improve process reliability and ergonomics.
  • Collaborate with CNC programmers and machinists to establish optimal feeds, speeds, and cutting strategies.
  • Assist in the selection and setup of tools, fixtures, and equipment for machining and assembly operations.
  • Conduct time studies and process trials to validate process capability and repeatability.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to reduce cycle time, scrap, and rework.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and recommend process changes to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Support the implementation of lean manufacturing and 6S principles on the shop floor.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and process records within the ERP system.
  • Ensure all processes comply with internal quality standards and applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., AS9100)

Requirements

Qualifications: 

  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with emphasis on machining and/or mechanical assembly.
  • Solid understanding of machining operations (milling, turning, drilling, grinding, wire EDM, honing, etc.) and mechanical assembly practices.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (Autodesk products preferred) and CNC programming basics is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and common manufacturing documentation tools.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Manufacturing Technologist (CMfgT)
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
