About this role

POSITION SUMMARY
Inspects in-bound tractors and trailers to identify operating and DOT defects, ensuring safety and compliance.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts thorough inspections of tractors, trailers, reefers, and tires.
Records identified defects in the maintenance system.
Communicates identified defects to the driver and shop personnel to administer repairs.
Maintains positive relationships with shop staff and drivers.
Receives and carries out instructions.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge or willingness to learn how to identify tractor, trailer, and refer defects.
Excellent mechanical aptitude.
Ability to identify mechanical issues.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to create and read work orders.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or
training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to work safely in a fast-paced, noisy environment around moving equipment.
Ability to regularly lift 50lbs and occasionally lift up to 100lbs.
Must be able to inspect vehicles to determine repairs needed.
Good vision to inspect repair work.
* Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
DOT brake inspection certification as required by supervisor and/or location
