This role's primary responsibility is to install, maintain, and repair customer FTTX drops/NID’s. They will be responsible for maintaining inventory between technicians and warehouses throughout the territory. The Drop Technician will typically install aerial and/or buried service drop cabling, and network interface devices (NID) to customer homes and businesses.

Requirements
- Highschool diploma required
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to use optical test equipment including fusion splicers and OTDRs
- Ability to operate a forklifts, trenchers, plows, and bore machines
- Safely operate a company vehicle
- Strong communication skills
- Initiative to work remotely with limited supervision
- Strong leadership skills.Overtime outside of normal workday hours may be required
- Able and willing to travel, and work nights/weekends
- Able and willing to work outdoors and in inclement weather conditions
- Physically able to lift 100 pounds
Responsibilities
- Surveying the work area to assess possible obstructions (water, gas, etc)
- Make contact with customers before starting any work
- Understanding of 811 paint marks
- Installing FTTX drops to customer homes and businesses
- Assures customer services are restored after trouble ticket dispatch
- Understanding Conexon builds mapping
- Operate machinery including trenching, plowing, and bore equipment for burying cable
- Assigning equipment and material to warehouses, technicians, and customers
- Assuring proper inventory is maintained at each project location
- Documenting assignment of inventory within inventory system
- It is our responsibility as a company to meet timelines that we as a company may fall behind on. Some weekends may be required to meet these timelines
- Track footage and materials used per job.
- Understanding to report to management and the owner of the property when any kind of damage occurs
- Following Conexon’s vehicle policies and guidelines
- Keeping up with vehicle/equipment maintenance and cleanliness
- Understanding of restoration work which will include but not limited to yards, houses, and other personal property of the customers
- Taking photos to document work site covering all areas
- Responding to coordinators and dispatch in a timely manner when they reach out
- Understanding of pole/strand drop attachments
- Other duties as assigned by management
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Ability to walk long distances on a regular basis
- Ability to lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds
- Ability to bend stoop kneel Crouch or reach as required by job tasks etc.
