Summary

The paint department specialist ensures painters are properly set up by prepping parts and staging them by color. They facilitate the efficient and timely delivery of painted parts to assembly by auditing jobs for completeness and transporting parts via forklift. Additionally, they support the department by stocking and maintaining paint supplies, performing booth maintenance, and assisting with overall departmental organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Demonstrate intermediate knowledge of all shop tools used in part preparation and staging
Utilize print reading to assist in part identification and job tracking
Perform routine booth filter and floor maintenance to ensure a clean and efficient workspace
Maintain booth logs (EPA records) for compliance and tracking
Clean and organize the paint storeroom and mix kitchen, ensuring supplies are properly stored
Maintain inventory levels by organizing and stocking paint and supplies
Operate and maintain the paint reclaimer, including ordering necessary supplies
Operate the mini blaster for surface preparation
Stage prepped parts efficiently for painters to optimize workflow
Perform hook and rack maintenance to ensure proper part handling
Utilize the Vault Tool at an intermediate level for part look-up and job tracking
Basic understanding of yard locations in relations to the pick list
Assist team members as needed, including blasters, painters, and staging operations
Participate in safety programs and adhere to all company safety policies
Other duties as assigned

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clock in and out of work orders to maintain accurate labor records when prepping parts or performing assembly tasks
Accurately update and maintain the FIFO board (using excel and MS Teams) and communicate upcoming deliveries to assembly via email
Assist in maintaining paint booths, forklifts, and the paint kitchen to protect company assets
Periodically clean racks to remove build-up
Participate in 6S activities to maintain a clean and organized work area

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or GED required
1-3+ years of experience in a paint area or related field preferred
