Responsibilities:

  • The IP role involves professional responsibilities in case finding, surveillance, analysis and interpretation, reporting, inspection, education, consultation, and recommendations to prevent and control infections.
  • Responsible for assuring that CH meets Infection Prevention Standards applied by external agencies such as the CDC, CMS, the Joint Commission, WHO, APIC, OSHA and others.
  • Conduct on-going surveillance using accredited external agency criteria pertinent to IP and supports epidemiological studies of specific problems or problem areas to determine the source of the problem.
  • Develop, update and initiate isolations techniques and procedures in accordance with current standards of practice, rules, and regulations; ensure adherence with isolation techniques and procedures to provide optimum care to patients with healthcare acquired infections.
  • Collaborates / networks with CDPHE, Mesa County Health Department, CHA, and physician offices when applicable to the Infection Prevention Program.
  • Keeps CH facilities and environmental services informed of infection prevention activities and changes in policies and procedures, accordingly.
  • Collaborates with Occ Health and department for individuals with potential exposures or actual exposures to infection or disease processes.
  • Advise in annual requirements for TB testing, Hepatitis immunization of staff, annual influenza immunization for staff and assessing staff immunization status.
  • Establishes educational requirements for employees regarding infection prevention and adjusts as needed to accommodate departmental requirements, working collaboratively with the education department to facilitate infection prevention education for CH.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Unrestricted Colorado Nursing License
  • Current certification in Infection Control (CIC)
  • Three (3) years Infection Prevention experience in an acute care setting, five (5) years clinical experience required

 

Compensation:

  • The anticipated compensation range for this position is $38.00 - $43.70 per hour, commensurate with qualifications, education, experience, and other applicable factors. This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

     Additional compensation may be available in the form of discretionary incentive or other compensation programs. Any such additional compensation is not guaranteed and is determined at the sole discretion of the organization based on applicable program terms, individual and/or organizational performance, and other eligibility requirements.

Additional Information:

  • Relocation: Must relocate to Grand Junction, CO 81505 before starting work.
  • Work Location: In-person/onsite
