The approximate base compensation range is posted, but the actual offer will reflect our total compensation and benefits package. The offer will be determined by a number of factors including the selected candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, FTE, number of months worked, as well as internal equity among our team.

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides quality health services for students presenting as physically well and those presenting with illness or injury. The RN assists in providing students and SHS staff with health education and wellness programs. The RN develops, manages, and coordinates policy and procedure development across the College as assigned by the Medical Director of Student Health Service.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • The RN assists the Director of Student Health Service and Nurse Practitioners with clinic compliance.
  • Develops, implements, and adhere to policies and procedures for Student Health Service and evaluates program effectiveness.
  • Manages and maintains accurate and confidential student health records in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA standards; use of electronic health records (HER) system.
  • Supports the Director in the daily operation of Student Health Service to include patient care, health education, health-related consultation, wellness, and administrative support.
  • Delivers quality health assessment and treatment, or triage of ill or injured students within RN scope of practice; makes appropriate referrals to local health care providers and local health facilities as necessary.
  • Develops programs and activities to educate and inform students and staff on various health and wellness initiatives, not limited to health fairs and campus-wide presentations.
  • Participates in Student Orientation sessions to acquaint incoming freshmen and transfer students with the services, policies, and procedures of Student Health Service.
  • Collaborates with SHS staff to coordinate CSS Immunization compliance for required vaccines.
  • Assists Director and Medical Assistant with inventory and requisitions for medicines, appropriate treatments, medical and office supplies.
  • May serve as a member or consultant to various College committees as assigned by the Director of Student Health Service.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Leadership, administrative, and program management ability related to health services.
  • Ability to provide effective and confidential health care services in compliance with HIPPA and FERPA requirements.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of health-related and emergency patient care, including First Aid, CPR, and use of AED units.
  • Knowledge of health education programs, policies and trends.
  • Ability to develop, plan, implement, and evaluate programs and activities.
  • Ability to represent the College to outside agencies and organizations including public health agencies and community health services.
  • Knowledge of community referral resources. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents in a diverse community.
  • Knowledge and experience in treating minority and diverse populations; ability to interact with varied academic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of crisis management and crisis intervention.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of nursing experience, preferably in a family medicine or college setting.
  • To be eligible for this position, all candidates must be fully vaccinated against Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Influenza, Tdap, and COVID-19, and provide proof of vaccination upon hire.
  • Maintaining updated vaccination records is mandatory for continued employment. Licensing and Certifications: Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of MN.
