About this role

Coastal Medical Transportation Systems is hiring EMT-Cardiacs to join our growing team! 

Under the direction of the CMTS leadership team, physician medical director, and supervisory staff, Emergency Medical Technician-Cardiacs will provide safe and effective ambulance-based medical care at the advanced life support level. They will respond to requests for ambulance transport of patients between healthcare facilities and other locations, and be able to respond to requests for emergency medical services.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Rhode Island EMT-Cardiac (AEMT-C) license in good standing.

  • Current NREMT certification at the applicable level, as required by the State of Rhode Island.

  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

  • Current CPR/BLS certification at the healthcare provider level.

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to successfully complete required background checks, credentialing, and occupational health requirements.

  • Ability to work effectively in high-stress environments and demonstrate sound clinical judgment.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and documentation skills.

  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting, carrying, moving, and assisting patients and medical equipment.

  • Ability and willingness to maintain all certifications required under the Rhode Island EMT-Cardiac/AEMT-C license and applicable regulatory requirements.

Physical Requirements

This position requires significant physical strength, dexterity, mobility, and the ability to function safely in adverse environments, including emergency scenes, ambulances, and healthcare facilities.

Candidates must be able to:

  • Walk at least ¼ mile without difficulty.

  • Walk up and down stairs without difficulty.

  • Sit or stand for extended periods.

  • Lift and carry adult patients weighing up to 125 pounds per partner (250 pounds total) from various positions, including chairs, floors, and beds, to patient movement devices such as ambulance cots, stair chairs, and long spine boards.

  • Safely move patients to and from the ambulance.

  • Bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach, push, pull, and grasp in a variety of positions and circumstances to facilitate patient movement and provide patient care.

  • Perform required physical duties without compromising the ability to provide safe and effective patient care.
