Mine Tailings Projects Execution Supervisor

Make your mark while you grow your career! We are currently seeking a passionate Engineer to join our Albian Mine Tailings team. This is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate and develop your expertise in managing and executing projects, as well as providing leadership and support to shift teams. You will work closely with cross‑functional engineering teams, Mine and Tailings Operations, and other key stakeholders. In this role, you will help in the development of detailed project scopes, coordinate and supervise the execution of tailings-related projects, and track costs incurred compared to budget.

Your contributions will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost‑effective operation of a world‑class mining facility, all while upholding Canadian Natural’s Core Value of Safety Excellence.

• Job location: Fort McMurray, Alberta – Albian Oil Sands
• Shift schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off (day shift only) – 12-hour shifts
• Safety sensitive position: Yes

Key Accountabilities:

• Supervise the execution of mine tailings projects that support operations at the Muskeg River and Jackpine Mines, delivering results on time and on budget
• Collaborate with Tailings Operations General Forman, Tailings Project Execution Lead, and subordinates to prioritize and co-ordinate daily activities to meet production targets and execute project priorities
• Maintain a safe and efficient work environment through practice of the Alberta OH&S code and application of company HS&E policies and standards by holding employees accountable to these standards and regulations
• Comply with all Health and Safety Requirements established by Canadian Natural Resources Limited
• Provide feedback to technical designs to support short‑ and long‑term project objectives, following Canadian Natural practices and driving innovative solutions
• Develop project execution schedules, identifying resource requirements and constraints
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including technical, operations, environment and regulatory teams to support efficient and effective execution of Mine Tailings Projects
• Manage project scopes, budgets, and schedules to deliver functional, cost-effective solutions

What You Bring to the Role:

• Degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline
• P. Eng designation with APEGA, or eligibility to register
• Experience in Mine Tailings preferred
• Experience in a direct supervision role preferred
• Strong project management skills, including costing, scheduling, organization, planning, and reporting
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with AutoCAD, Maptek Vulcan or other design software
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent) without restrictions
