About this role
ABOUT CMC
CMC Development & Construction is a Texas-based commercial general contractor serving clients across Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio. Founded in 2016, we deliver higher education, healthcare, municipal, public safety, airport, and commercial projects through general contracting, construction management, and design-build services.
We believe exceptional projects begin with strong field leadership. Our superintendents are trusted to lead with accountability, protect CMC’s Goal Zero safety culture, maintain high standards, and build lasting relationships with clients and trade partners. If you are a hands-on construction leader who takes pride in running safe, organized, and productive jobsites, we want to hear from you.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Superintendent is CMC’s senior field leader on the project and is responsible for day-to-day construction operations from mobilization through final completion and owner acceptance. This position coordinates subcontractors, drives the project schedule, oversees quality control, manages site logistics, maintains accurate field documentation, and represents CMC professionally with owners, architects, inspectors, and trade partners.
The ideal candidate anticipates issues, makes sound field decisions, communicates clearly, and creates accountability without sacrificing collaboration. CMC provides its field leaders with the authority, resources, and support needed to deliver successful projects.
WHAT YOU WILL LEAD
- Direct daily field operations and coordinate subcontractors across multiple trades and work areas.
• Establish clear expectations for safety, quality, manpower, sequencing, production, housekeeping, and schedule performance.
• Champion CMC’s Goal Zero safety culture and enforce OSHA requirements, company policies, and site-specific safety plans.
• Conduct documented safety inspections, lead toolbox talks, correct unsafe conditions, and support incident investigations.
• Partner with the Project Manager to develop, maintain, and execute the baseline project schedule.
• Prepare and manage short-term and three-week look-ahead schedules, identifying sequencing conflicts and resource gaps early.
• Coordinate jobsite logistics, temporary facilities, inspections, material deliveries, site access, and general conditions.
• Inspect work in place for compliance with construction documents, approved submittals, quality standards, and design intent.
• Identify deficiencies, document corrective actions, and hold subcontractors accountable for timely resolution.
• Review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and coordination issues with the project team.
• Prepare accurate daily reports covering manpower, weather, progress, deliveries, inspections, delays, and significant events.
• Communicate project status, risks, constraints, and field issues promptly to the Project Manager and leadership.
• Lead project closeout, punch-list completion, commissioning support, inspections, and owner acceptance.
• Mentor Assistant Superintendents, Project Engineers, and developing field staff.
• Serve as CMC’s primary onsite representative and build productive relationships with clients, design teams, inspectors, neighbors, and trade partners.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated commercial construction experience leading multi-trade projects as a Superintendent or senior field leader.
• Ability to manage ground-up construction, renovations, or complex occupied-facility work from mobilization through closeout.

• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings and specifications.
• Experience developing and managing project schedules and short-term look-ahead plans.
• Strong subcontractor coordination, leadership, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to make timely field decisions, maintain composure under pressure, and manage multiple priorities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of commercial construction field-leadership experience.
• Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
• Experience leading projects valued at $5 million or more.
• Experience in public-sector, higher education, healthcare, municipal, airport, institutional, or commercial construction.
• Experience with design-build or design-assist delivery.
• Familiarity with construction technology such as RedTeam, Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or comparable platforms.
• Established Dallas–Fort Worth subcontractor and trade-partner relationships.
• Experience mentoring Assistant Superintendents or junior field staff.
