About this role

Join us to build the future of financial advice - personal, accessible, and built for today.

Financial advice has been too expensive, exclusive, and out of reach for too long. At Clove, we’re combining trusted advisers with technology to close the advice gap and help people make smarter decisions with their money. As one of our first hires, you’ll shape how advice works for today: personal, accessible, and built around real lives.

You’ll work across the entire product surface: consumer experiences, adviser tools, and internal systems. You’ll own features end-to-end — from database schema to polished UI — working closely with design and the founding team to solve real problems from first principles.

We’re a small team building a modular Go monolith with React frontends, deployed on GCP. You’ll work across the full stack: API design, workflow orchestration, event-driven systems, and multiple web applications that serve different audiences. The problems are varied - one week you might be building a complex onboarding flow for customers, the next you’re designing internal tooling that makes advisers more effective.

AI is collapsing the cost of building. When “can we build it?” is rarely the question anymore, the real differentiator is how the product makes someone feel - confident, in control, and cared for. That applies to every surface you’ll touch: consumer, adviser, and internal.

Your background

  • Product-minded: you care about the user problem, you ship, and you iterate based on data and user feedback.

  • Strong full-stack fundamentals: you’re as comfortable designing a clean API as you are building a polished UI.

  • High ownership and autonomy: you can take ambiguous problems from “vague” to “shipped”, bring others along, and drive them through to impact. There are no PMs here.

  • A true self-starter: you don’t wait to be told what to do, and you take ownership end-to-end.

  • You use AI as a force multiplier: you reach for modern tools to prototype, ship, and raise your own leverage, and you have a view on where they help and where they don’t.

  • You don’t settle for mediocrity. You push the quality bar and keep raising what “great” looks like.

  • A love of building and learning by doing: you prototype, measure, iterate, and you enjoy the loop.

  • First-principles thinking and healthy skepticism: you ask “why?”, challenge assumptions, and look for simpler, better foundations.

  • Excellent product taste: you care about the details that make an experience feel considered and trustworthy, whether that’s a customer-facing flow or an internal dashboard.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Go and/or React - though strong fundamentals in similar technologies work too.

  • Excited by AI-native tooling, and always finding ways to ship faster and better with modern tools.

  • 0→1 experience: you’ve taken a product from a blank page to something people love.

  • Experience with event-driven architectures, workflow engines, or distributed systems.

  • Comfortable diving into analytics, understanding what’s happening, and turning it into product improvements.

  • Comfortable talking directly with users: both consumers and advisers.

  • Experience working in regulated or high-trust environments (fintech, health, identity), where clarity and correctness matter.

  • Experience working in an early-stage team where you set patterns, not just follow them.

Your impact

  • Build and ship features across the full product surface — consumer app, adviser platform, and internal tools — with a strong bias for experimentation and learning.

  • Design and implement clean APIs, resilient workflows, and thoughtful UIs that handle complexity but feel simple to use.

  • Work across the stack to solve problems holistically — sometimes the best fix for a frontend issue is a better API, and vice versa.

  • Help set how we build with AI: the tools, patterns, and guardrails that let a small team move like a much bigger one.

  • Set engineering foundations at Clove: patterns, quality bar, testing, and conventions that the team will build on.

  • Partner tightly with design and the founding team to iterate quickly, then refine until it’s genuinely excellent.

Our offer

A chance to join a small, senior team building Clove from the ground up. You’ll have ownership, flexibility, and real impact — backed by trust, momentum, and a mission that matters.

Our process

We keep it simple: real conversations with the founding team, practical exercises if useful, and clarity about what we expect from each other. No hoops for the sake of it.
