Quality Manager
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as the primary contact for all Quality, Food Safety, and Regulatory issues.
- Develops implements and manages the Quality and Food Safety System.
- Develops, maintains and ensures compliance of a qualified HACCP program.
- Coordinates all internal, 3rd party and regulatory audits.
- Ensures the effectiveness of the Master Sanitation and Pest Control programs for the facility and any associated food grade storage areas
- Analyzes QA data to measure, assess, and improve product quality performance.
- Communicates compliance results to operating groups, ensures timely feedback and provides technical support to operate processes at target.
- Acts as quality liaison with customers for quality related issues, complaints and corrective actions.
- Works with both internal and external customers to develop/execute qualification and validation protocols. Collect, summarize and publish all related quality data.
- Develops new product specifications and inspection plans as per customer requirements.
- Utilizes customer and consumer complaint data to identify root cause, then communicates and provides support to implement process/product improvements.
- Determines the disposition of all raw materials, packaging and finished product HOLD orders.
- Develops a Quality and Product Safety System that consistently meets regulatory, customer and third party audit requirements.
- Notify Supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required.
- Performs and is acting In-House SQF Practitioner.
- Update and maintain monthly trending reports with regard to customer and consumer complaints, corrective actions, environment results and foreign material.
- Maintain SQF policies and forms.
- Write new SOP’s under the direction of the Director of QA.
- Assist with training Team Members on Allergen and all Preserved Identity of Foods on the production floor and the use of new SOP’s and forms.
- Assist with root cause investigations, Corrective Action/Preventive Action and related documentation.
- Run the Approved Vendor Program for all receiving and shipping functions as it relates to food quality and safety of raw materials and packaging materials.
- Collect all documents and maintain all data for corrective actions, specifications, Third Party Audits, HACCP and Letters of Guarantees.
- Maintain hazard analysis of ingredients and add new ingredients requested by R&D.
- Run the Contract Service Provider Program
- Assist with special research projects as it relates to food safety and food quality.
- Perform all duties necessary to meet SQF, CKS, and/ or Government requirements and standards as prioritized by CKS Packaging.
- Inform Management of ANY Food Safety or Quality issues or of any processes, which become noncompliant with specified requirements.
- Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
- Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
- Validate any Food Safety or Quality changes.
- Controls further processing or delivery of nonconforming products in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
- In the absence of immediate supervisor, will assume necessary operational and administrative duties.
- Provide leadership, direction and performance feedback for all direct reports including employee conferences, counseling session, disciplinary actions and annual performance reviews.
- Develops and revise product specifications as per customer requirements
- Schedules all lab personnel.
