Job Description:

In this role, you will perform administrative, operations, and security tasks to ensure safe and efficient functioning of an assigned facility. 

 Examples of Duties:

  • Attends the South Carolina Criminal Academy in Columbia, SC for 3 weeks for basic jail certification. Lodging is provided. 
  • Ensures the proper administration of the facility to include the processing, control, and supervision of detainees. 
  • Conducts security inspection for weapon and contraband in the facility each day. 
  • Collects money for delinquent parking tickets and boot fees for the Traffic and Transportation Department during non-business hours. 
  • Prepares and processes incident reports. 
  • Enters information into / retrieves information from NCIC, RMS-MFR and other data base systems as needed. 
  • Answers the telephone; provides information and assistance to callers; routes calls, and takes messages as necessary. 
  • Greets and assists department visitors. 
  • Types, prepares, processes, copies, scans, files, and distributes various documents. 
  • Operates an assortment of office equipment and machines including a copier, computer, printer, calculator, typewriter, telephone, fax machine, etc. 
  • Refers to policy and procedure manuals, computer manuals, directories, maps, logs, etc.
  • Attends training, workshops, meetings, etc., as required to enhance job knowledge and skills. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel and Word or similar software.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • NCIC (National Crime Information Center) experience

 Other Necessary Requirements:

  • All qualified applicants must possess a clean criminal history and successfully complete the following: polygraph test, drug screening, and background investigation where applicable. 
  • All sworn and certain civilian positions will also be required to successfully complete a psychological evaluation, and oral board interview.
