Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is a 365-entertainment destination for world-class events located in Austin, TX. The sports and entertainment portfolio at COTA is unmatched in the country with Formula 1 US Grand Prix, NASCAR and MotoGP attracting global fans during championship races on the famed Circuit and Live Nation producing over 30 headline concerts every year at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater. Opening in 2026, COTA’s amusement park, COTALAND, is on over 30-acres featuring two first of their kind Roller Coasters and 30 rides.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews plans, blueprints, and drawings for future buildings, and inspects new buildings to ensure compatibility with existing electrical codes and maintenance standards.
  • Prepares material and labor estimates.
  • Monitors the acquisition and use of materials.
  • Trains or informs employees of new work methods or procedures, changes in safety regulations, work policies, electrical codes and standards, and the like.
  • Ensures budgeting guidelines follows the Campus General Services business unit and / or COTA’s mandates; prioritizes shop expenditures to stay within budget and assists in preparation of capital and operations budgets.
  • Inspects new construction and remodels.
  • Assists in design requirements.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education and Experience

High School diploma or G.E.D. or equivalent education AND ten (10) (years of electrical repair and maintenance experience, which includes seven (7) years of supervisor experience, with the completion of a four-year federally approved technical training program in electrical repair and maintenance, or

eleven (11) years of electrical repair and maintenance experience which includes eight (8) years of supervisory experience.

  • Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special Requirements

State Recognized Master License

  • Preferred:

Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Knowledge of Medium to High Voltage

NETA Certified

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Policies, procedures, and practices, such as, OSHA, NFPA, NEC and others
  • Safety guidelines.
  • Tools, equipment, and materials common to the electrical trade.
  • Applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Banner and other job-related software systems.
  • Supervisory principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Electrical applications for high and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications.
  • Experience with 480V Motor Control, Transformers, Switch Gears
  • Knowledge of variable frequency drives
  • Zero to ten volts signaling for HVAC related equipment.
  • Minimal 600V 3 phases
  • Familiar with 15kV, 4160V, 12470V

  • Installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of electrical system equipment and components.
  • Estimating time and material requirements of assigned work projects.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMAND:

  • Prolonged standing and/or walking.

  •  Ability to lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to squat, bend, twist, push/pull.
  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
  • Work in extreme environments outdoors throughout the year.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud during events.
