Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is a 365-entertainment destination for world-class events located in Austin, TX. The sports and entertainment portfolio at COTA is unmatched in the country with Formula 1 US Grand Prix, NASCAR and MotoGP attracting global fans during championship races on the famed Circuit and Live Nation producing over 30 headline concerts every year at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater. COTALAND is an amusement park with over 30 attractions and experiences, including first-of-their-kind roller coasters.

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our food & beverage team at COTALAND. The successful candidate will be responsible for food preparation, onsite cooking, and maintaining cleanliness in our cafe kitchen environment.

Requirements

Requirements & Essential Functions:

  • Perform food prep work to ensure efficient cooking during service hours.
  • Manage inventory levels and communicate with management regarding supply needs.
  • Maintain high standards of quality control to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards are upheld in accordance with health regulations.
  • Cook orders promptly as they come in, while maintaining accuracy and consistency.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and contribute to a cohesive team environment.
  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks efficiently.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques, food preparation methods, and proper knife handling.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices, sanitation standards, and safe food handling procedures (including temperature control and cross contamination prevention).
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment operation, including grills, fryers, ovens, and food preparation tools.
  • Familiarity with recipe execution, portion control, and food presentation standards.
  • Ability to handle special dietary requests to include food allergies and other accommodations.
  • Understanding health department regulations and workplace safety policies.
  • Prepare and cook menu items accurately, efficiently, and consistently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knife skills and food preparation skills to support high-volume service.
  • Effective time-management and multitasking skills during peak service periods.
  • Follow written recipes, production sheets, and verbal instructions.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with kitchen and service staff.
  • Attention to detail to ensure food quality, consistency, and guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout service.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing menus, service demands, and event driven schedules.
  • Assist with opening, closing, restocking, and cleaning duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and professional behavior.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Previous experience as a cook, line cook, or kitchen team member in a high-volume food service environment.
  • Basic knowledge of cooking techniques, knife skills, and food preparation methods. 
  • Valid food handler certification.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes, production sheets, and verbal instructions. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and consistency. 
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and during large-scale events as required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Demand & Work Environments:

  • Ability to stand, sit, use hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to squat, bend, twist, push/pull.
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
  • Work in extreme environments outdoors throughout the year.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud during events.
