Job Overview
Maintain and repair all make, model and styles of backup gas, LP and diesel emergency generator systems both fixed and portable.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
- Must be familiar with the base power systems, 0-480 voltage input circuits, 3-phase wiring, transformers, and transfer switches, both automatic and manual. Maintenance includes setting program start/stop times, and load shedding parameters.
- Diagnose and perform minor/major repairs to engine systems including but not limited to, turbos, cooling systems, charging systems and fuel systems.
- Must perform prescribed maintenance inspections and replacements to include, but not limited to, oil changes, air, fuel and oil filter changes, instrument and switch function testing, coolant systems, hoses, block heater functions, fan belts, pulleys, all associated wiring and fuel storage tank inspections.
- Must be able to check fuel flow, inspect, repair and/or replace batteries and battery chargers.
- Maintain engines in clean and working order at all times.
- Must have knowledge of and be able to perform specified load bank requirements.
- Capable of working alone.
- Capable of troubleshooting and decipher problems, both mechanical & electrical.
- To respond to emergency call outs as requested by the Trouble Desk.
- Perform all other work-related duties as assigned.

- Tools and equipment within his or her possession.
- Using PPE when required.
- Timely, cost-effective performance of duties.
- Working closely and harmoniously with fellow workers.
- Adherence to all Safety rules and regulations.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- This position requires knowledge, training, and experience in the generator field to Journeyman level.
- Have at least five years’ experience in repairing and operating AC/DC generators and gas, LP and diesel engines.
- Knowledge of individual automatic transfer systems.
- Maintain a valid State issued driver’s license.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Possess an OSHA 10 card or have the ability to get one within the first 90 days of employment.
- Employees to furnish own basic hand tools.
- Must be able to comprehend, read, speak and write proficiently in the English language.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional and courteous manner in diversified situations.
Preferred:
- Possess a valid Nevada CDL, Class B minimum, with Hazmat (H) endorsement.
Working Conditions:
- Work hours are subject to change, with overtime work as needed.
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors as well as remote locations. Outdoors work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions.
- Must be able to complete assigned tasks in high or confined spaces.
- Subject to hazards that may cause personal bodily harm; diseases, cuts, bruises, burns, common colds, influenza, dust odors and elevated noise levels.
- Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hand and soft-carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of lifting and/or moving up to 70 lbs.
- Must be able to climb ladders, scaffolds and walkways.
