Founding Engineer

Join Chief AI as a Founding Engineer to build the AI-native operating system for modern leadership alongside the CEO and founding team. From day one, you will shape product direction and engineering culture while empowering high-powered decision-makers in government and business to impact millions.
What youll do
- Ship core agentic workflows essential for executive teams.
- Build data ingestion and structuring pipelines to generate actionable context.
- Collaborate directly with customers to understand their operational needs.
- Shape core architecture and AI workflows for executive reasoning.
- Develop personalization and intelligence features for briefings, tasks, and relationships.
- Prototype and iterate on innovations like voice-to-text and recommendation surfacing.
What Chief AI is looking for
- 2–5+ years of experience shipping full-stack, production-grade products in fast-paced, early-stage environments.
- Strong proficiency in Python, Typescript, React, Django, Tailwind, AWS, and Postgres.
- Hands-on experience building AI-native SaaS products with LLMs, agents, RAG, and embeddings, plus a clear view of where AI is headed.
- Experience building from 0 to 1 in a founder-led startup and communicating effectively with the CEO and founding team to shape product direction.
- Direct experience collaborating with customers and stakeholders to define requirements, gather feedback, and shape product direction.
- Ownership mindset with genuine care for the mission, the product, and the outcome.
- Must be a U.S. citizen eligible for security clearance; experience in government or regulated industries is a plus.
- Ability to work on-site at StartupHQ in San Francisco, CA (no fully remote option).
