Position Overview

Challenge Enterprises of North Florida, Inc. is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious Forklift Operator/Shipboard Laborer to support shipboard supply operations at Naval Station Mayport and Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base.

In this role, you will assist with loading, transporting, and stowing subsistence items and supplies aboard U.S. Navy vessels while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a physically active environment, follows safety procedures, works well as part of a team, and takes pride in supporting mission-critical operations.

What You'll Do

Shipboard Material Handling

Load, transport, and stow subsistence items and supplies aboard Navy ships.
Move materials by hand from staging areas to designated shipboard storage locations.
Rotate inventory and stock as directed.
Stack pallets neatly in designated storage areas.
Remove debris and dispose of materials in approved disposal locations.
Support surge operations and emergent mission requirements when needed.

Forklift Operations

Safely operate forklifts with capacities up to 4,000 pounds.
Maintain required forklift qualifications and certifications.
Transport materials safely while following established operating procedures.
Conduct equipment inspections and report any mechanical or safety concerns.

Safety & Compliance

Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety vests, safety glasses, and steel-toed footwear.
Follow all workplace safety procedures and government regulations.
Maintain compliance with agency policies and Navy security requirements.
Report hazards, damaged equipment, or safety concerns promptly to a supervisor.

Teamwork & Professionalism

Report to assigned work locations on time and prepared for duty.
Work cooperatively with supervisors and team members to complete assigned tasks efficiently.
Maintain a professional attitude while working in secure government facilities.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively in English
Ability to pass a background check and government security screening
Ability to obtain and maintain Navy installation access
Ability to operate or maintain qualifications to operate a forklift with capacities up to 4,000 pounds
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
Ability to walk, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and work in physically demanding environments

QualificationsPreferred Qualifications

Previous warehouse, shipping, receiving, logistics, material handling, or forklift experience
Previous experience supporting military or government operations
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and working aboard naval vessels. Employees must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds and safely perform physically demanding work in a warehouse and shipboard environment.
